    Abstract: A venting tape for use in venting an enclosed article space to be filled with an injected expandable foam material. The venting tape includes a polymeric film having a plurality of minute perforations formed therethrough. The perforations are sized to allow the passage of a gas therethrough yet prevent the passage of expandable foam insulation. The venting tape further includes an adhesive layer on one side of the film in a pattern enabling a substantial portion of the minute perforations to remain uncovered by the adhesive layer.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a hot melt adhesive composition useful for articles such as plasters, bandages and tapes which are adhesively adhered to skin. The adhesive may be coated continuously and preferably, discontinuously onto a substrate. More preferably, the hot melt adhesive composition is pattern-coated. The adhesive is permanently adhered to at least one substrate of the article and removably or releasably attachable to skin. The adhesive advantageously does not cause skin irritation nor transfers adhesive to the skin upon removal.

    Abstract: An adhesive coating or layer has a differential height barrier structure deposited on the surface of one or both sides. Consequently, a highly aggressive adhesive formulation can be temporarily neutralized so as not to resist sliding of an item being positioned on the surface, until pressure is deliberately applied. Conversely, the adhesive system can be carried by decorative sheet material for easy application of the sheet material to cover a wall or floor, whereby the sheet can be slid into exact position without "sticking", before permanent adhesion. The present invention may be implemented by forming an array of discrete surface barrier structures which cover 10-30% of the active surface area of the adhesive. The barrier is preferably formed by an array of minute units of hard material or other discrete structures distributed on the adhesive surface and projecting therefrom by about 0.00025-0.0005 inch.

    Abstract: A medical patch material has a support coated with an even and porous spread of pressure sensitive hot-melt adhesive coating, formed by means of gravure printing, has a sufficient porosity and a resulting vapor permeability to skin moisture on the one hand, as well as an absolute bacteria-impermeability and reliable adherence of the patch material on the other hand.     Abstract: A double-sided adhesive-coated foam tape particularly for bonding two adjacent rigid surfaces in which fine grooves on one or both sides of the tape facilitate air venting to minimize non-contact areas. The tape is used by affixing one side of the tape--the non-grooved side if only one side of the tape is grooved--to a first rigid surface to be adhered, removing the release liner from the grooved tape surface and pressing onto the grooved tape the second rigid surface intended for bonding. The grooves in the tape are fine enough that, once the two surfaces to be bonded are in position, the grooves largely or completely disappear.

    Abstract: An edhesive tape has a flexible carrier web that has a low-adhesion face formed with a predetermined pattern of dimples, each of which contains a plurality of electrically conductive particles that can either be loose or bound together into clusters by a binder. An adhesive layer covers said face and deposited particles and can be a pressure-sensitive adhesive or a heat-activatable adhesive. When the adhesive layer is separated from the carrier web, it carries along the particles. When the particle-bearing adhesive layer is used to bond together two arrays of electrodes, facing pairs of the electrodes are electrically interconnected either by single particles or by clusters of the particles. When a binder is used to bind the electrically conductive particles into clusters, the binder can add to the strength of the adhesive bond between the electrode-bearing surfaces.
