An automated banking machine (10) is operative to carry out financial transactions and includes a user interface (15). The user interface includes a card reader (16) which is operative to read data on user cards which identify user's financial accounts. A fascia of the machine includes a keypad (404, 438, 458) through which users input confidential data. Covers (400, 422, 430) prevent unauthorized persons from viewing confidential inputs to the keypad. Alternatively, movable panels (462, 464) are movable to prevent unauthorized viewing of confidential inputs. Alternatively a keypad cover is selectively collapsible to prevent digit access. A visual indicator is operative to indicate to a user that keypad inputs are being encrypted. Disinfecting techniques may be used to disinfect manual contact surfaces of the machine.
Abstract:
The invention allows for multiple card orientations and multiple card directions of travel through use of multiple opposed magnetic stripe reader heads within a POS terminal card reader track. In one embodiment, the various opposed heads are offset along the card reader track. The POS terminal also accommodates smart card and contactless instrument readers and includes features for electronic signature capture, user display interaction, multi-tasking capabilities, check reading and age and identity verification.

A print system allowing a user to obtain a transaction statement in a safe and easy manner is provided. For this purpose, a print system includes: a banking terminal; and a digital multi-function peripheral performing data communication with a Web server having transaction statement data and PIN code stored in association with each other, through an external network and an in-store network. The banking terminal is adapted to include an operation panel receiving a request from a user for an output of a transaction statement, and a PIN code generating unit and a receipt issuing unit for generating and outputting a PIN code in response to the received request. The digital multi-function peripheral is adapted to include an operation panel receiving the PIN code input by a user operation, a control unit obtaining transaction statement data corresponding to the received PIN code from the Web server, and a printer unit outputting a transaction statement based on the obtained transaction statement data.

A casino all-in-one kiosk includes a card issuing unit that enables self service registration and dispensing of casino loyalty cards, in addition to cash-dispensing, and ticket redemption functions. The kiosk may also be adapted to provide ancillary services such as hotel check-in/check-out, reservations and ticketing, and coupon printing, and may further be integrated with a financial services network to provide banking and credit card services.

A system and method is provided for an ATM having a display, a logic server coupled to the display, and a memory coupled to the logic server. The logic server dynamically controls the functions available to the users including messages and coupons. A host contains a profile of a user. The memory, which is accessible to the logic server, may contain a profile of at least one user. A user card may contain a profile of the user. In operation, the ATM detects the a user's card and requests the profile of the user whose card was detected from a host. The ATM then receives the user's profile and stores the user's profile in the ATM. The system and method also provides a cardless ATM in which a user logs on without a card. Additionally, system and method also provides ATM services via a personal device.

A banking system operates to cause financial transfers responsive to card data read from data bearing records by a card reader. The system includes at least one automated banking machine comprising a cash dispenser. The system is operative during a cash dispense transaction request to receive through an automated banking machine, user input of data corresponding to a mobile phone number. The system is operative to generate a security code for the requested cash dispense transaction. The system uses the phone number to send the generated security code to the mobile phone. The cash dispense transaction is allowed to proceed only if the system receives machine user input of the sent security code within a predetermined amount of time.

A cash dispensing automated banking machine, such as an ATM, has leveling legs. The legs are also used to fasten the ATM to a shipping pallet. Each leg has a support foot and an opposite free end. The free end is inserted through an opening in an intermediate shipping plate. With the shipping plate situated between the foot and the ATM underside, the free end is screwed into an underside opening. The leg is rotated until the plate is raised to be secure against the underside. The plate is then set on the pallet and fastened thereto by lag screws. The pallet includes horizontally adjustable stabilizing feet at sides thereof. The pallet feet can be extended outward to decrease the ability of a supported ATM to tip over. When not needed, such as during pallet storage, the feet can be retracted inward to reduce pallet size.

An automated transaction machine including an extensions for financial services (XFS) layer is provided. An application interface portion of the XFS software layer is operative to communicate with an application software layer of the ATM which may include terminal applications. A hardware interface portion of the XFS software layer is operative to communicate with a hardware layer of the ATM which may include hardware devices of the ATM and associates service providers. A diagnostic application is operative to determine whether problems exists in the application software layer or the hardware layer of the ATM by causing a plurality of hardware devices to perform predefined operations using the XFS software layer and by monitoring the operations. The diagnostic application is operative to output a determination as to whether a problem with the ATM is associated with the components of the application or hardware layers of the ATM responsive to the success or failure of the operations.

A secure terminal comprises: primary means consisting of processing means, data and program storage means, security means and data input means, wherein the components of the primary means are interconnected by a first data bus; peripheral means consisting of printing means, means for reading from/writing to a card and means for accessing a telecommunications network, wherein the components of the peripheral means are interconnected by a second data bus; and power supply means connected to the primary and peripheral means. The primary means arc grouped in a main housing that cannot be dismantled without damaging at least one of the components of the primary means, and the peripheral means are grouped in at least one housing capable of being connected to the main housing.
