Abstract:
A card actuated automated banking machine (10) is operative to carry out financial transactions responsive to data included on user cards. The machine includes a user interface (15) including a display (24). The user interface includes a card reader (16) which is operative to read data on user cards which identify at least one of user and a user's financial accounts. A fascia of the machine includes a keypad (404, 438, 458) through which users input confidential data. Covers (400, 422, 430) prevent unauthorized persons from viewing confidential inputs to the keypad. Authorization signals assure that the display is operating in a manner that provides appropriate user instructions. A visual indicator is operative to indicate to a user that keypad inputs are being encrypted.

Alternatively, movable panels (462, 464) are movable to prevent unauthorized viewing of confidential inputs. Alternatively a keypad cover is selectively collapsible to prevent digit access. A visual indicator is operative to indicate to a user that keypad inputs are being encrypted. Disinfecting techniques may be used to disinfect manual contact surfaces of the machine.
Abstract:
An ATM includes a user interface having a display device. The display device includes a flexible display panel. The display panel can be flexed to limit the displayed information to only the field of view of the current ATM user. The curvature of the display panel can be changed by a moving device to correspond to the settings assigned to the current ATM user responsive to identifying input received from the user.
Abstract:
A portable terminal operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records in the form of user cards. The user cards include credit and/or debit cards. Data corresponding to the card data is stored in at least one memory of the terminal. The terminal includes a wireless communication device. The terminal operates to wirelessly communicate data corresponding to card data to one or more remote computers to cause financial transfers to or from selected accounts. The terminal also operates to provide outputs corresponding to account balances and to receive data corresponding to receipts.

Abstract:
A system operates to carry out financial transfers in response to data read from data bearing records. A cell phone having a camera stores in memory indicia corresponding to account data from a plurality of magnetic stripe cards. A user can operate the phone to select one of the accounts stored in the memory. The memory further includes a scanned user-identifying written signature. The user can use the phone during an item purchase to wirelessly transmit each of an item's identifier captured by the camera, selected account data, and the user signature.

Abstract:
An automated banking machine that operates responsive to data bearing records such as user cards includes a user interface having electronic ink displays. Displays can be used as identification labels. A display identifying the function of a transaction function device can be located adjacent to that device. Displays can also be used to provide instructions to machine users. A display on how to insert a card into the ATM can be located adjacent the card input slot. A system that operates to carry out financial transfers operates in response to data read from data bearing records. A cell phone having a camera or other reader operates to cause item identifying data and account data to be transmitted to a transaction system to enable item purchase.
Abstract:
An ATM includes a user interface having plural electronic ink displays. Displays can be used as identification labels. A display identifying the function of a transaction function device can be located adjacent to that device. Displays can also be used to provide instructions to machine users. A display on how to insert a card into the ATM can be located adjacent the card input slot. An display can be in direct communication with both a card reader and an encryption pin pad (“EPP”). Upon suspecting card reader tampering, the card reader can instruct the display to present a message warning of the situation. Likewise, upon suspecting EPP tampering, the EPP can instruct the display to present a warning message. Displays can also instruct a machine user on when and when not to insert their PIN depending on the mode of the EPP.
