Abstract:
A method to control switching of telephone calls of at least one caller with at least one more callee using a filter is—regarding a filtering that is as efficient as possible with a minimum impact on the regular phone operation—designed in such a way that before switching the telephone call to the callee, a test is performed by the filter to identify the telephone calling behavior of the caller.
Abstract:
A method of applying for or renewing a subscription or membership over a telecommunication network, where the steps of the method include establishing communication between a calling subscriber/member and a business offering the subscription or membership or a third party verifying the identity of the subscriber/member providing the subscriber/member with a plurality of subscription or renewal options from which said subscriber/member must choose a preferred subscription or renewal option and processing the subscriber/member's preferred subscription or renewal option.
Abstract:
A communication terminal and reception blocking method thereof are disclosed, by which a signal of a sender having poor credibility can be blocked in advance, by which a plurality of recipients are able to rate a credibility of a specific sender to block a signal of the specific sender and by which information for the rating can be shared. The present invention includes the steps of setting a level of a reception blocking for a signal transmitted from a specific sender identification number, receiving credibility rating information for the specific sender identification number, and if a credibility rating of the specific sender identification number based on the credibility rating information belongs to a range of the set level, deciding the reception blocking for the signal transmitted from the specific sender identification number.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are presented for blocking nuisance calls to communications devices, in which incoming calls are selectively blocked if the caller has made a threshold number of attempts to call a communications unit within a specified interval of time. The nuisance call blocking service may be selectively performed only for communications customers subscribing to the service, and the service may include the ability to designate a list of allowed callers who can make unlimited call attempts, with non-designated calling parties being limited to the threshold number of call attempts within the specified time period before being blocked.
Abstract:
A communication system is arranged to efficiently control communications as being conscious of location information of a mobile body. The communication system includes an address list managing unit, a data supplying unit, a call connecting unit, a display unit, and a user interface. The address list managing unit stores and manages an address list about the location of each registered member. The data supplying unit generates data based on the address list so that the data can be disclosed on a Web site. The call connecting unit gives a call to a destination member specified by a user side for controlling a call connection. The display unit displays a screen image of the data to be referenced on the Web site. The user interface is used for specifying a destination member and a communication service type on the screen.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for changing the status of a mobile apparatus based upon the velocity of the mobile apparatus. The communication system determines the velocity of a mobile apparatus by calculating the difference between a first position of a mobile apparatus at a first time and a second position of the mobile apparatus at a second time. If the velocity of the mobile apparatus exceeds a predetermined threshold, the communication system changes the status of the mobile apparatus to a sleep state and ends a call that the mobile apparatus is involved in.
Abstract:
In response to a customer call to a call center, an available agent is selected and the call is connected to the selected agent. Initially it is determined whether voice is present in the connection from the agent to the customer within a predetermined time interval, e.g. 3-6 seconds, by calculating the energy in media packets and comparing this value with a predetermined threshold. If no voice is present from the agent, the call is re-routed to another agent. Additionally, the agent may be marked as not available for subsequent calls, and the agent can be so notified. The “agent not present” event may be reported to a supervisor who may contact the agent or further monitor the agent to ascertain whether the non-responsiveness recurs. The technique can be used with “local” agents (those physically present in the call center) and with “remote” agents (those connected to the call center, e.g. via the public switched telephone network (PSTN)). A persistent call can be established between remote agents and the call center to be used for a number of customer calls. In this case, the customer call is connected to the persistent call.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises a method for audio/video conferencing. In a preferred embodiment, the method comprises using a dynamic threshold value to determine whether there is speech on a line. One aspect, the method comprises determining a dynamic threshold value based on one or more characteristics of signals received on a port, associating that dynamic threshold value with the port; and comparing one or more characteristics of signals subsequently received on the port to the dynamic threshold value. Signals received over a plurality of ports are summed, but for ports whose signal characteristics have a specified relationship to the dynamic threshold value associated with that port, signals are not contained in the sum.

Abstract:
The invention allows a calling party who fails to get through to a called number and is diverted to a mailbox to set-up automatic re-dialling of the number. This entails the calling party's phone ringing the called number periodically for a pre-determined period of time, as defined by a user or within a PBX. The call is allowed to ring for a time less than the time at which the call would normally be diverted to the mailbox for the called number. Thus, the call rings for as long as possible without entering the mailbox. The invention thus enables a person to establish a call easily without cluttering the mailbox for the called number.
