Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the continuous free-radical homogeneous solution polymerization or melt polymerization of (meth)acrylate monomer mixtures.
Abstract:
The present technique provides for the use of spectroscopic probes, such as Raman probes, within the conduits or other equipment of a polyolefin production system and upstream systems. The Raman probe or other spectroscopic probes may be used to obtain spectroscopic measurements of the contents of the conduits or other equipment. The spectroscopic measurements may be processed and analyzed to determine one or more properties of interest of the contents.
Abstract:
(EN) A liquid constant-rate emitting apparatus that in the event of delivering a liquid, such as water, from a liquid accommodating container, even when the amount thereof is small, is capable of constant-rate delivery thereof. There is provided an apparatus comprising liquid accommodating container (2) for water accommodation; water lead-out pipe (11) for water emission from the liquid accommodating container (2); gas accommodating container (1) for compressed air accommodation; and introduction pipe (6) for feeding of the compressed air within the gas accommodating container (1) into the liquid accommodating container (2), so that constant-rate water emission from the water lead-out pipe (11) is attained by application of the compressed air to the liquid within the liquid accommodating container (2).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an injection system for injecting material into a receiving vessel, said injection system comprising: (i) an injection chamber provided with means to connect to the receiving vessel, and (ii) an injection capsule, adapted to fit within the injection chamber, and comprising a reservoir for the material and a valve, said injection system being adapted so that opening of the valve causes material contained within the reservoir to be injected into the receiving vessel by action of a pressure differential between the injection chamber and the receiving vessel. The present invention also relates to a method of injecting material into a receiving vessel using said injection system.

The present technique provides for the use of spectroscopic probes, such as Raman probes, within the conduits of a polyolefin production system. The Raman probe or other spectroscopic probes may be used to obtain spectroscopic measurements of the contents of the conduits. The spectroscopic measurements may be processed and analyzed to determine the composition of the conduit contents. In addition, the spectroscopic measurements may be used in conjunction with correlations or other statistical models to determine one or more properties of interest of a constituent of the conduit contents. One or more processes upstream and/or downstream of the conduit may be adjusted in response to the determined composition or composition properties.
Abstract:
Esterification and transesterification methods, systems and apparatus are disclosed which increase the efficiency of esterification reactions. The methods comprises utilizing an annular gap reactor comprises a rotor rotating within a stator to provide an annular flow passage comprising a flow path containing a high-shear treatment zone in which the passage spacing is smaller than in the remainder of the zone to provide a subsidiary higher-shear treatment zone. In exemplary embodiments, the reactor is modified to include an evaporator portion including an opening in the stator near the end of the reactor and a series of fins placed in the opening. Increase in the rates due to the annular gap reactor allow for the use of less catalyst, poorer catalysts, lower temperature and reduction in unwanted side reactions at more economically favorable conditions.

Abstract:
An olefin polymerization process wherein monomer, diluent and catalyst are circulated in a continuous loop reactor and product slurry is recovered by means of a continuous product take off. The continuous product allows operating the reaction at significantly higher solids content in the circulating slurry. In a preferred embodiment, the slurry is heated in a flash line heater and passed to a high pressure flash where a majority of the diluent is separated and thereafter condensed by simple heat exchange, without compression, and thereafter recycled. Also an olefin polymerization process operating at higher reactor solids by virtue of more aggressive circulation.
