Abstract: An apparatus for reducing cross-talk between transmitted audio signals and received audio in a headset. The headset includes one or more of a set of earphones, a headset frame, a microphone boom with an array of MEMS microphone configured to isolate the earphone audio from the microphone audio, a VOX circuit, low crosstalk cable(s), and/or other components. Sets of microphones may be enabled and/or disabled to reduce cross-talk between received audio signals and transmitted audio signals. The VOX circuit is configured to reduce cross-talk between received audio signals and transmitted audio signals.

Abstract: A lighting system includes a first lighting fixture that includes a first microphone and a first transmitter. The first transmitter is configured to transmit a first digital audio stream generated based on a sound. The lighting system further includes a second lighting fixture that includes a second microphone and a second transmitter. The second transmitter is configured to transmit a second digital audio stream generated based on the sound, where the sound is received by the first microphone and by the second microphone. The lighting system also includes a central processor that can process the first digital audio stream and the second digital audio stream to identify the sound.

Abstract: A telephone includes at least two microphones and a circuit for processing audio signals coupled to the microphones. The circuit processes the signals, in part, by providing at least one statistic representing maximum normalized cross-correlation of the signals from the microphones, doaEst, dirGain, or diffGain and comparing the at least one statistic with a threshold for that statistic. At least one of noise reduction and speech enhancement is controlled by an indication of near-field sounds in accordance with the comparison. Indication of near-field speech can be further enhanced by combining statistics, including a statistic representing inter-microphone level difference, each of which have their own threshold. dirGain and diffGain are derived from signals incident upon the microphones such that the desired near-field signal is not suppressed.

Abstract: A method performing automatic gain control (AGC) using an accelerometer in a headset starts with an accelerometer-based voice activity detector (VADa) generating a VADa output based on (i) acoustic signals received from at least one microphone included in a pair of earbuds and (ii) data output by at least one accelerometer that is included in the pair of earbuds. The at least one accelerometer detects vibration of the user's vocal chords. The headset includes the pair of earbuds. An AGC controller then performs automatic gain control (AGC) on the acoustic signals from the at least one microphone based on the VADa output. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to user experience oriented audio signal processing. There is provided a method for user experience oriented audio signal processing. The method includes obtaining a first audio signal from an audio sensor of an electronic device; computing, based on the first audio signal, a compensation factor for an acoustic path from the electronic device to a listener and applying the compensation factor to a second audio signal outputted from the electronic device. Corresponding system and computer program products are disclosed.
