Abstract: A vacuum cleaner capable of recording an abnormality immediately upon occurrence of the abnormality. The vacuum cleaner has a main casing. The vacuum cleaner has driving wheels for enabling the main casing to travel. The vacuum cleaner has a control unit for controlling drive of the driving wheels to make the main casing autonomously travel. The control unit has a function as an abnormality sensor for detecting an abnormality. The vacuum cleaner has a camera for picking up an image. The control unit has a cleaning mode for cleaning a cleaning-object surface, an image pickup mode for performing image pickup with the camera, and a standby mode applied during a standby state. Upon detection of an abnormality during the cleaning mode, the control unit is switched over to the image pickup mode to perform image pickup with the camera.

Abstract: A charging station includes a main body, a central emission module, a supersonic receiver, a controller, and a lateral emission module having a left infrared emitter and a right infrared emitter. The controller drives the left infrared emitter and the right infrared emitter to emit alternatively infrared signals to a first signal area and a second signal area, respectively. When the supersonic receiver receives a supersonic signal from the self-propelled apparatus, the controller drives the central emission module to emit another infrared signal to a third signal area so as to guide the self-propelled apparatus to enter the third signal area. When a distance between the self-propelled apparatus and the charging port is smaller than a predetermined distance, the self-propelled apparatus turns to have a charging-input unit thereof to face the charging port. In addition, a charging system including the charging station and the self-propelled apparatus is also provided.

Abstract: In a first mode, a control unit controls operation of driving wheels so that a main casing is made to travel straight and, upon detection of an object by an object sensor, the main casing is changed in traveling direction and made to travel straight. In a second mode, the control unit controls the operation of the driving wheels so that the main casing travels in a curved shape along an object detected by the object sensor. When a charging device is not found by a signal reception part during traveling within a region by the first mode, the control unit is changed over to the second mode. The control unit is changed over to the first mode when it is decided a specified number of times or more that the main casing has moved to a different region by the second mode.
