Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a terahertz oscillator that does not have an MIM capacitor structure of which producing is intricacy, and oscillates due to resonance of an RTD and stabilizing resistors. The present invention is a terahertz oscillator, wherein a slot antenna having a slot is formed between a first electrode plate and a second electrode plate which are applied a bias voltage, stabilizing resistors to respectively connect to the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate are provided in the slot, an RTD is provided on the second electrode plate through a mesa, and a conductive material member to form an air bridge between the first electrode plate and the mesa is provided, and wherein an oscillation in a terahertz frequency band is obtained due to a resonance of the RTD and the stabilizing resistors.

Abstract: Provided are an atomic layer sheet that contains boron and oxygen as framework elements, is networked by nonequilibrium couplings having boron-boron bonds, and has a molar ratio of oxygen to boron (oxygen/boron) of less than 1.5, a laminated sheet containing a plurality of such atomic layer sheets and metal ions between ones of the sheets, and a thermotropic liquid crystal and a lyotropic liquid crystal containing these. In addition, there is provided a method for manufacturing an atomic layer sheet and/or a laminated sheet containing boron and oxygen, the method including: adding MBH4, where M represents an alkali metal ion, into a solvent containing an organic solvent in an inert gas atmosphere to prepare a solution; and exposing the solution to an atmosphere containing oxygen.

Abstract: A semiconductor optical amplifier includes: a substrate; a light source unit formed on the substrate; and an optical amplification part that amplifies light propagating in a predetermined direction from the light source unit and emits the amplified light in an emission direction intersecting with the substrate surface. The optical amplification part includes a conductive region extending in the predetermined direction along the substrate surface from the light source unit, and a nonconductive region formed around the conductive region. The conductive region includes a first region extending from the light source unit and having a predetermined width as seen from a direction perpendicular to the substrate surface, and a second region connected to the first region and having a width widened relative to the predetermined width of the first region, the second region being configured to expand the propagation light in a direction intersecting with the predetermined direction.

The first case body, the thermoelectric body, and the second case body are electrically connected in a stacked direction.

Abstract: A semiconductor device includes a power supply and ground layer and a semiconductor chip disposed over the power supply and ground layer. The power supply and ground layer includes a substrate and a wiring part. The substrate has one or more grooves whose openings are directed toward the semiconductor chip, and the wiring part is disposed within the one or more grooves via an insulating layer and is formed in a predetermined pattern. The substrate is connected to ground wiring of the semiconductor chip and the wiring part is connected to power supply wiring of the semiconductor chip. The wiring part is not exposed from a back surface of the substrate.
