This present invention relates to carbon nanotubes as fillers in composites with materials such as elastomers, thermosets and thermoplastics. A further feature of this invention relates to the development of a concentrate of carbon nanotubes with an elastomer wherein the concentrate can be further diluted with an elastomer and other polymers and fillers using conventional melt mixing.

The coating composition of the present invention is characterized in that hydrophobic microparticles, and flat-shaped microparticles forming a card-house aggregate structure, are dispersed in a binder resin dissolved in a solvent. Preferably, the aspect ratio of table faces and end faces of the flat-shaped microparticles is 10 or higher. Preferably, the average particle size of the flat-shaped microparticles in an aggregated state ranges from 125 nm to 200 μm. The coating composition of the present invention can form a coating film having few cracks and can impart high water repellency and high oil repellency without the need for a complex operation.

Rigid polystyrene foams contain thermally treated non-graphitic anthracite coke particles. Such athermanous materials permit a more energy-efficient grinding process, wherein the ground particles are yielded in the desired platelet form and these ground particles also disperse well in a polystyrene matrix. Therefore the rigid polystyrene foams containing the anthracite coke particles have a density of less than 40 kg/m3 and a thermal conductivity of less than 40 mW/m·K which provides desired thermal insulation properties.

Provided is a thermoplastic resin composition having excellent thermal conductivity and high electrical insulating properties, and having excellent flexibility in comparison to ceramic molded bodies and thermoset resin compositions. The resin composition contains 20-60 volume percent of thermoplastic resin and 40-80 volume percent of boron nitride. The boron nitride is made up of spherical boron nitride particles and flat boron nitride particles. The spherical boron nitride particles have average particle size of 50-300 μm and aspect ratio or 1-2. The flat boron nitride particles have average particle size of 8-100 μm and aspect ratio of 30-300. The volume ratio of the spherical boron nitride particles with respect to the total amount of boron nitride is 75 vol %-99 vol %. Further provided are melt molded products of this thermoplastic resin composition and a method for the manufacture of such melt molded products.

The liquid crystalline polyester resin composition includes 100 parts by weight of a liquid crystalline polyester (A) having a ratio (a)/[(a)+(b)] of an amount of terminal hydroxyl group (a) to a sum of the amount of terminal hydroxyl group (a) and an amount of terminal acetyl group (b) which is 0.70 to 1.00; and 10 to 100 parts by weight of a mica (B). The mica (B) included in the liquid crystalline polyester resin composition has a volume-average particle size of 10 to 50 μm. The mica (B) has an aspect ratio of 50 to 100.

The present invention is related to a method for producing a resin composition including feeding a resin (A), a fibrous filler (B), and a particulate filler (C) which is harder than the fibrous filler (B) to an extruder, and melt-kneading to extrude a kneaded material, the resin composition comprising a fibrous filler (B) which is 140 μm or less in weight average fiber length. According to the present invention, a production method with high versatility is provided in which a resin composition containing the fibrous filler having the weight average fiber length of 140 μm or less is effectively produced.

An anisotropic conductive adhesive for anisotropic conductive connection of an electronic component to a wiring board under no pressure or a low pressure is prepared by dispersing conductive particles in a binder resin composition. A metal flake powder having a major axis of 10 to 40 μm, a thickness of 0.5 to 2 μm, and an aspect ratio of 5 to 50, is used as the conductive particles, the minor axis of the metal flake power being, in a length, 10 to 50% of the major axis. The amount of the conductive particles contained in the anisotropic conductive adhesive is 5 to 35 mass %.
