Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydrous silica for rubber reinforcing fillers having CTAB specific surface area in the range of 220 to 350 m2/g and a pore volume over the range of pore radius 1.9 to 100 nm measured by mercury press-in method in the range of 1.7 to 2.0 cm3/g, wherein a volume average particle diameter D50 in a volume particle size distribution measured by laser diffraction method for the slurry obtained by dispersing 50 ml of a hydrous silica slurry adjusted to 4 mass % with an ultrasonic homogenizer at an output of 140 W for 10 minutes is in the range of 5.0 to 12.0 μm, and a cumulative value of hydrous silica particles over the range of 4.0 to 35.0 μm in the volume particle size distribution is 80% or more. The present invention also relates to a rubber composition containing the above-mentioned hydrous silica and a rubber component containing a natural rubber. The present invention provides a hydrous silica which has equivalent or excellent reinforcing property (abrasion resistance, tensile strength) and which allows to greatly reduce the rolling resistance when it is blended into a rubber based on the natural rubber for TBRs, which is often used under a heavy load, compared with conventional hydrous silicas, and provides the rubber composition containing the hydrous silica.

Abstract: A core-shell nanocomposite is formed by co-assembly of an amphiphilic polymer and hydrophobically modified magnetic nanoparticles, with its core being a hydrophobically modified magnetic nanomaterial and its shell being the amphiphilic polymer, wherein hydrophilic segments in the amphiphilic polymer are located at an outermost layer of the shell. The above composite can be used as additives in the crystallization of conglomerates and obtain optically pure crystals of both enantiomers in a single process. The key thereof is that the composite is used to enrich molecules with the same configuration while inhibit the crystallization of the other enantiomer in a supersaturated solution of conglomerates, such that a non-magnetic crystal and a magnetic crystal (which are enantiomers of each other) are generated in a unit operation. Optically pure crystals of both enantiomers with over 90 ee % can be obtained by one-time crystallization, and the total yield can be as high as 40%.

Abstract: A resin composition contains a polybutylene terephthalate resin and a polyethylene terephthalate resin, wherein a mass ratio of the polybutylene terephthalate resin and the polyethylene terephthalate resin with respect to a total of 100 parts by mass of the polybutylene terephthalate resin and the polyethylene terephthalate resin is from 10/90 to 90/10, and wherein, when one cycle is defined as an operation in which, based on JIS K7121, a temperature is increased by DSC from 40° C. to 300° C. at a rate of temperature increase of 20° C./min and then the temperature is reduced to 40° C. at a rate of temperature cooling of −20° C./min, the polyethylene terephthalate resin has an absolute value of a heat of crystallization during a heating phase in a first cycle (ΔHTc1-1st) and/or an absolute value of a heat of crystallization during the heating phase in a second cycle (ΔHTc1-2nd) of the operation of less than 3 J/g.

Abstract: The present invention provides a class of magnetic hydrogels with tissue-mimetic mechanical properties and photothermal welding/healing capability. In these hydrogels, a hybrid network involving aramid nanofibers, functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles, and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is accomplished by a stepwise assembly of the functional components. The engineered interactions between nanoscale constituents enable facile materials processing and confer a combination of excellent mechanical properties, magnetism, water content and porosity.

Abstract: A polymer resin is provided having a compatibilizing agent, an ammonium polyphosphate flame retardant, a non-drip agent and a glass fiber reinforcement is provided. The polymer resin may also include a smoke suppressant, wherein the smoke suppressant is any one of or any combination of zinc (IV) hydrogen phosphate, particles having a fire retardant core that includes an overcoat of selected flame retardant materials, and a nanohybrid having a core that includes any an organic/inorganic halogenated, non-halogenated, and/or organophosphorus flame retardant material the surface of the core modified with nanoparticles of any one of or any combination of a metal and a metal oxide. The polymer resin may also include an enhancement additive.
