Abstract:
A novel lubrication blend useful per se as a lubricant or as an additive to form a novel lubricant composition. The lubrication blend consists essentially of a mixture of: (1) at least one complex sulfide of antimony, represented by the formula:Sb.sub.x S.sub.ywherein, x is a number in the range from about 1.7 to about 2.3, and y is a number in the range from about 3.6 to about 4.4, (2) at least one antimony oxide, and (3) at least one lamellar crystalline solid lubricant.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition having improved extreme pressure and antiwear properties comprising a base lubricant and an additive consisting of from about 0.01 to about 30 weight percent of said lubricant of a mixture of a metal thiosulfate and a metal phosphate.
Abstract:
The present invention is a fluid which exhibits excellent electrorheological properties at low current densities, at high temperatures, and in the complete absence of absorbed water or water of hydration. In a preferred embodiment, the fluid comprises lithium hydrazinium sulfate dispersed in silicone oil, and in the presence of an appropriate suspension stabilizing agent.
Abstract:
A water soluble lubricant concentrate adapted to be admixed with water and a lubricant composition made therefrom which exhibit enhanced levels of lubricity and hard water stability and facilitate the transportation of containers on a conveyor. The concentrate and composition include:(a) an anionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of alpha olefin sulfonates, sulfonates of ethoxylated alcohols, alkyl aryl sulfonates, napthalene sulfonates and mixtures thereof;(b) a carrier for the anionic surfactant; and(c) a water soluble salt of aluminum selected from the group consisting of aluminum sulfate, aluminum nitrate, aluminum chloride, polyhydrates of potassium aluminum sulfate/aluminum sulfate complexes and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
The pasty damping medium is used to damp mechanical and/or acoustic oscillations. The agent contains as a minimum compound a solid finely divided substance or a mixture of solid finely divided substances, as a liquid phase, a silicone oil, a polyglycol, a mineral oil and/or a saturated aliphatic or aromatic aliphatic carboxylic acid ester, an agent for increasing the interfacial surface activity or a surfactant, a finely divided magnesium and/or aluminium silicate and/or a silicon dioxide finely divided as a viscosity stabilizer and possibly a small quantity of an antioxidant. The invention concerns also a method for producing the pasty damping medium and the use of the pasty damping medium in different hydraulic damping devices or for industrial shock absorber or industrial vibration damper.
Abstract:
A kit and process are provided for working metals, said kit comprising a metal nitride and/or metal carbonitride coated metal working tool and a water soluble metal working fluid, said fluid including a relatively large alkoxylated amine, an alkanol amine and an acid-derived compound selected from the group consisting of organic acids, inorganic acids, and salts thereof, and said process comprising contacting a metal workpiece with said metal working tool and said fluid to effectuate working of said metal.
Abstract:
A water-soluble metal-working lubricant composition comprising as essential components thereof(a) one or more polyetherpolyols having molecular weights of 200 to 100,000 and obtained by adding alkylene oxides to either one or more of compounds selected from(1) polyalkylenepolyamines and derivatives thereof,(2) alkyl- and alkylaryl-amines and derivatives thereof and(3) carboxylic acid amides and derivatives thereof; and(b) one or more compounds selected from phosphoric acid compounds and boric acid.Incorporation of a specific polyetherpolyol compound together with phosphoric acid compound or boric acid serves as alternative to conventional liquid oil-base lubricant with mitigating drawbacks such as poor stability of emulsions, fouling of surfaces, difficulty in waste water, etc., which are inherent in conventional lubricants.

Abstract:
Lubricating compositions are disclosed which comprise a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, thickened to a grease consistency with an oil thickener and a minor amount of a rare earth halide.
