According to an aspect, a remote control device includes a display unit, an operation detecting unit, a reading unit, a control unit, and a code transmitting unit. The operation detecting unit detects an operation. The reading unit reads information used for remotely controlling an electrical device from the electrical device. The control unit causes the display unit to display a control screen used for remotely controlling the electrical device based on the information read by the reading unit. The code transmitting unit transmits a control code acquired based on the information read by the reading unit to the electrical device in response to an operation detected by the operation detecting unit while the control screen is displayed on the display unit.

The wireless module is disposed on the body. The processing unit is coupled to the wireless module. The slide-on-strap touch-sensing structure is disposed on the strap and coupled to the processing unit. The slide-on-strap touch-sensing structure senses at least one trigger event to remotely control an electronic device having a display. The processing unit produces a corresponding operation instruction according to the user's touch input operation. A handheld electronic device having a universal remote control mechanism is provided. The electronic device comprises a touch display unit, a storage unit, a wireless transmission unit and a processing unit. The touch display unit receives device information and displays a user interface having virtual function keys. The storage unit stores a device code discrimination table. The processing unit retrieves the device code discrimination table and initiates a test procedure according to an order of the hit rate of the instruction codes of plural rows of device codes in the device code discrimination table. The processing unit further terminates the test procedure and controls the electronic device to be controlled by using a specific device code when the processing unit can control the electronic device to be controlled by using all the instruction codes of the specific device code through the wireless transmission unit.

A remote control device includes first and second pointing devices, wherein each pointing device is provided in a different plane, for the provision of flexible and ergonomic user commands. The first pointing device may be provided on an upper surface of a remote control housing (in a first plane) while the second pointing device may be provided on a lower surface of the remote control housing (in a second plane). In this configuration, a user's thumb may engage the first pointing device which the user's finger engages the second pointing device. Combinations of thumb and finger movement are detected through the pointing devices and interpreted to generate remote control signals.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for controlling a networked display via a client device are provided. The client device and the networked display are connected by a network. A session is initiated between the client device and the networked display, and a remote user interface is transmitted from the networked display to the client device. Interactivity with the remote user interface is detected at the client device, and input data is transmitted from the client device to the networked display based on the interactivity with the remote user interface. The input data is interpreted at the networked display so as to cause a change in a state of an application being executed by the networked display. And the remote user interface is updated based on the changed state of the application executed by the networked display.
