Abstract:
A method for providing a notification includes receiving a notification request at a central location. The notification request includes an audible message, a notification time, and a destination. The audible message is stored at the central location and associated with the notification time and destination. A current time is determined and compared with the determined notification time. The method further includes connecting a telephone call to the destination based on the determination and transmitting the stored audible message to the destination during the telephone call based on the connection.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method of modifying policy settings in a network having a plurality of subscriber devices. An embodiment includes a plurality of base stations, each capable of wirelessly transmitting across a geographic region and a server. A cell-phone, capable of roaming between regions, is operable to establish a wireless link with the base stations and through the base stations, with the server. The network contains a communication policy determining from which other communication devices a subscriber device can receive voice calls. The communication policy is updated, by the server, based on requests from the subscriber devices. Once a request is received from a subscriber device, the determination whether to update the communication policy can be based on a record of rejections respective to the caller requested to be blocked. Alternatively, the communication policy can be updated according to a trust policy maintained on the server respective to the subscriber device making the request; the trust policy represents the procedure to follow when a request is received from that subscriber device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enabling providers of PSTN toll free services to stagger simultaneous transmission of call setup signaling messages into an IP based teleconference bridge, supported by a VoIP network, by suspending a subset of calls and placing them on hold while placing other calls to be connected to the conference bridge are disclosed. The PSTN network can stagger calls by limiting the number of call setup signaling messages to be sent to the VoIP network within a predefined period of time interval and spread all the calls over multiple of such predefined periods. Prerecorded announcements or music can be played while the calls that have been placed on hold are in queue.
Abstract:
A system and method for incremental do-not-disturb. User input is received to activate the incremental do-not-disturb on a telephone. The incremental do-not-disturb is activated for a time period in response to receiving the user input to activate the incremental do-not-disturb. Incoming calls are diverted during the time period in response to activating the incremental do-not-disturb.
Abstract:
A certain embodiment of the invention discloses a processing method and device for timeout of a queuing request. The method comprises the steps of: after a first queuing request in a waiting queue is timeout, setting the first queuing request to be in a queuing-paused state, and prompting a timeout (S302); obtaining a second queuing request (S304); determining that a call requested, by the second queuing request, to be accessed is the same as a call requested, by the first queuing request, to be accessed (S306); and inserting the second queuing request into the waiting queue (S308). Through a certain embodiment of the invention, the original queuing position advantage of a user can be effectively maintained, and the user experience and the system performance can be improved.
Abstract:
A method for managing a phishing call is provided. The method includes receiving an incoming telecommunication request. The method also includes comparing a unique identification associated with the incoming telecommunication request against a set of contact lists. The method further includes, if the unique identification is not found on the set of contact lists, activating a delay timer to prevent a set of user notification components from being triggered for a delay period. The method yet also includes performing a connection analysis to determine status of the incoming telecommunication request. The method moreover includes, if the incoming telecommunication request is terminated during the delay period, updating a phishing call log with data about the incoming telecommunication request, wherein the updating of the phishing call log occurs without the set of user notification components being triggered, responsive to the incoming telecommunication request, during or subsequent to the updating.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for displaying messages, such as advertisements, consumer promotions, and customer service announcements, on digital wireless communication devices, such as digital cellular telephones. One method includes downloading wirelessly a single database containing a plurality of graphical interactive advertising contents. The plurality of graphical interactive advertising contents are stored to a mobile wireless communications device. At least one graphical interactive advertising content is displayed a particular time period the display of the mobile wireless communication device. The mobile wireless communication device is connected to a mobile communications medium upon user activation of the at least one graphic interactive advertising content.
Abstract:
Techniques to defer an incoming communication and then schedule a follow up communication are disclosed. A communication recipient can defer an incoming communication and schedule a return communication time. The return communication may be manually deferred by a user and/or automatically deferred based at least in part on availability of a user on an appointment calendar.
Abstract:
The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology by which a caller can set his or her cellular phone or similar device to automatically sense a called party's busy telephone line for when it becomes free, independent of any carrier-provided monitoring service. If free, the caller is prompted with an option to automatically redial the called party. The called party's line may be sensed seamlessly, that is, without any caller action and/or realization by the called party phone that it is being sensed (e.g., no missed call detected), by processing status messages obtained in response to quickly canceled calls. The lines of more than one called party may be sensed in the same timeframe to determine when each is free.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving an indication of an elapsed time since a scheduled teleconference meeting start and a further indication of current attendance at the teleconference; applying at least one rule for determining, based on the indications, whether to issue a notification to an absent invitee of the teleconference; and in response to application of the rule, selectively issuing the notification to the absent invitee.
