Abstract:
A system for reporting information about how selected components of an operating system are used by applications on a computing device. A manifest of components is provided from a management server to a computing device. The manifest specifies components of the operating system for which usage information is to be collected. The computing device surveys applications for calls to the components specified in the manifest. Surveys may be performed by static scanning and/or dynamic monitoring. In static scanning, application files are scanned for keyword strings specified in the manifest. Keyword string matches are recorded to a log file. In dynamic monitoring, calls from executing applications to components specified by the manifest are identified and logged. A report is generated from the log and sent to the management server. The management server then aggregates and analyzes reports from multiple computing devices to enable developers to assess how the components are being used.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reporting events into at least one event log are presented. An “access” event entry may be added to an event log stored in memory when a peripheral device accesses an address of a memory page described by a page table entry (PTE). A “dirty” event entry may be added to an event log stored in memory when a page writes to a memory page. The event log may reside in an input/output memory management unit (IOMMU) that includes a translation lookaside buffer (TLB). The IOMMU may report the event log entries to system memory. When there is no entry in the TLB and a direct memory access (DMA) read operation enters the IOMMU, a PTE may be loaded into the TLB after updating an access log to calculate an address. If the DMA operation is not a read operation, both dirty and access logs may be updated.
Abstract:
In the management of a processor, logical operation activity is monitored for increases from a low level to a high level during a sampling window across multiple cores sharing a common supply rail, with at least one decoupling capacitor along the common supply rail. Responsive to detecting the increase in logical operation activity from the low level to the high level during the sampling window, the processor limits the logical operations executed on the cores during a lower activity period to a level of logical operations set between the low level and a medium level, where the medium level is an amount between the low level and the high level. Responsive to the lower activity period ending, the processor gradually decreases the limit on the logical operations to resume normal operations.

Abstract:
Providing information of a monitored system through a graphical user interface (GUI) of a monitoring application to support simplified or automatic identification of events. The method includes initiating an event pattern script recording. The method also includes keeping track of user actions on said GUI and on activated GUI panels during said event pattern script recording by requesting a user to specify, once the user activates a further GUI panel, which panel information in a current GUI panel triggered activation of said further GUI panel and based on what criterion the triggering occurred. The user specified information results in triggering information. The method also includes, in response to receiving an indication that an event has been identified, stopping said event pattern script recording. The method also includes, storing said event pattern script recording, GUI panel information and said triggering information.

A method, system, and computer program product for providing information of a monitored system through a graphical user interface (GUI) of a monitoring application to support simplified or automatic identification of events. The method includes, among other possible operations, initiating an event pattern script recording. The method also includes, storing said event pattern script recording containing identification information identifying the event, GUI panel information about said activated GUI panels during said event pattern script recording and said triggering information.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for logged event frequency visualization. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for logged event frequency visualization is provided. The method includes loading into memory of a computer system a set of logged data entries and associated time stamps from a data store of log entries and computing in the computer system a frequency of logging for each of the logged data entries. The method additionally includes concurrently displaying in a log viewer both the logged data entries and also a visualization of the frequency of logging for each of the logged data entries.
Abstract:
Associating processor and processor core energy consumption with a task such as a virtual machine is disclosed. Various events cause a trace record to be written to a trace buffer for a processor. An identifier associated with a task using a processor core of the processor is read. In addition, one or more values associated with an energy consumption of the processor core are read. In response to the event, the one or more values associated with the energy consumption of the processor core and the identifier are written to the trace buffer memory.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for evaluating and reporting events in a building management system are provided. An event indication for building equipment of the building management system is received at a processing circuit. The event indication is associated with an event. The processing circuit classifies the event as at least one of a cause event and a symptom event. The processing circuit suppresses the event indication in response to classifying the event as a symptom event and displays the event indication in response to classifying the event as a cause event.
Abstract:
An information processing device provided with: an information processor; a unit for detecting a reset of the information processor; an acquisition unit for acquiring log information from the information processor; at least two buffers for storing the log information acquired by the acquisition means; and a controller for switching the storage destination of the log information acquired by the acquisition means between the at least two buffers, before or after the reset is detected, when a condition has been satisfied in which a predetermined minimum amount or more of log information is not acquired.
