Abstract: Technology to convert syngas into aviation fuel is described. Some variations provide a process comprising: providing a starting syngas stream comprising H2 and CO; purifying the syngas feed stream, if necessary; feeding the clean syngas stream to an alcohol-synthesis reactor, to catalytically convert syngas to a C1-C10 mixed-alcohol stream; feeding the C1-C10 mixed-alcohol stream to a dehydration reactor, to catalytically convert C1-C10 mixed alcohols to C2-C10 mixed olefins; feeding the mixed olefins to an oligomerization reactor, to catalytically convert the C2-C10 mixed olefins to C5-C16 mixed hydrocarbons; feeding the C5-C16 mixed hydrocarbons and hydrogen to a hydrogenation reactor, to catalytically hydrogenate C═C double bonds within the C5-C16 mixed hydrocarbons, thereby generating stabilized C5-C16 mixed hydrocarbons; and recovering the stabilized C5-C16 mixed hydrocarbons as aviation fuel. In preferred embodiments, the aviation fuel is sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) under ASTM D7566-24a.

Abstract: A method of producing diesel from municipal solid waste (MSW and Tire Waste) without Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, the method includes sorting waste feedstock into conforming waste capable of being converted into hydrogen-rich gas. The conforming waste is then conditioned into a specific recipe of moisture, cellulose, and/or hydrocarbons, resulting in sized fluff. Upon testing and meeting a standard for elemental composition, the fluff is then pelletized to form a very dense, high-BTU-rich, consistent solid fuel feedstock. The solid fuel pellets are then processed thermally in a high-temperature pyrolysis system which converts the solid fuel into a hydrogen-rich fuel gas. The fuel gas is reconstituted, converting it into a liquid ULSD fuel. The liquid fuel is then further analyzed and upgraded into fully compliant renewable diesel fuel and other valuable byproducts.

Abstract: A plant for the production of synthetic fuels, in particular jet fuel (kerosene), crude petrol and/or diesel, includes: a) a synthesis gas production unit for the production of a raw synthesis gas from methane, water and carbon dioxide, the synthesis gas production unit having at least one reaction section in which methane, water and carbon dioxide react to form the raw synthesis gas, and at least one heat generation section in which the heat necessary for the reaction of methane and carbon dioxide to produce the raw synthesis gas is generated by burning fuel to form flue gas, b) a separation unit for separating carbon dioxide from the raw synthesis gas produced in the synthesis gas production unit, c) a Fischer-Tropsch unit for the production of hydrocarbons by a Fischer-Tropsch process from the synthesis gas from which carbon dioxide has been separated in the separation unit, and d) a refining unit for refining the hydrocarbons produced in the Fischer-Tropsch unit into synthetic fuels, the plant further comprising e 1) a separation unit for separating carbon dioxide from the flue gas discharged from the synthesis gas production unit via the flue gas discharge line and/or e 2) a flue gas return line which is connected to the heat generation section of the synthesis gas production unit, wherein i) the carbon dioxide separated from flue gas or the flue gas itself via the flue gas return line and ii) the carbon dioxide separated from the raw synthesis gas are either fed directly to the synthesis gas production unit or first fed to a carbon dioxide compression unit and from there fed to the synthesis gas production unit, with the unit also having an electrolysis unit for separating water into hydrogen and oxygen, wherein the electrolysis unit has a water feed line, an oxygen discharge line and a hydrogen discharge line, and wherein from the oxygen discharge line a line leads into the oxygen-containing gas feed line to the synthesis gas production unit.

Abstract: Disclosed is a hydrocarbon composition containing isomerized paraffins having specific cut-off points in a distillation curve, a density from 768.0 to 772.0 kg/m3, a freezing point of equal to or lower than −40° C., and an amount of isomerized paraffins of over 90 wt-% as calculated from total paraffinic content of the hydrocarbon composition. The hydrocarbon composition can be used in combination with a fuel or fuel component, especially a jet fuel. Disclosed is also a method to produce a hydrocarbon composition. The isomerized paraffins in the hydrocarbon composition can be from a renewable source.
