    Abstract: A motor assembly can include a motor shaft, a stator assembly, and a rotor assembly, and can include a cooling jacket. The cooling jacket can include an inner wall facing radially inwardly towards the stator assembly and an opposite outer wall facing radially outwardly, a circumferential internal fluid passageway for allowing a cooling fluid to be pumped through an interior of the cooling jacket, the internal fluid passageway being disposed between the inner and outer walls and extending between an inlet and an outlet, a mounting pad receiving, at an opening in the outer wall, a heat generating component associated with the motor assembly, the opening being in fluid communication with the internal fluid passageway such that the cooling fluid can provide cooling to the heat generating component.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein that improve grid performance by smoothing demand using thermal reserves. The smoothed demand can reduce peak loads as well as the ramp rate of demand that will otherwise require the use of inefficient, expensive generation sources. These improvements are tied to the selective switching on or off electrical loads that are coupled to thermal reserves, effectively using the thermal reserves as an energy storage mechanism. Historical data of past usage can be used to create load model and ensure that effects on customer comfort are minimized while still accomplishing the beneficial effects for the overall grid, which enables grid owners to both reduce their operational cost by avoiding expensive generation and improve system reliability by achieving more predictable power demand.

    Abstract: Arc fault detection modules for vehicles intended to supervise circuits and detect arc fault conditions in both alternating current and direct current circuits. A number of these arc fault detection modules may be integrated into a vehicle's electrical system in strategic locations. Each arc fault module contains sensing capabilities for monitoring the circuit, and may also include signal conditioning capabilities, processing capabilities for determining the occurrence of an arc fault, contactors for disabling the supervised circuit, and communications capabilities to interact with other vehicle components and telematics systems. As a result arc fault detection odules can be customized to leverage existing features of a vehicle's electrical system or to provide fully redundant arc fault protection.

    Abstract: A method to provide power to a control supporting circuit includes connecting an optical power converter to the control support circuit, the optical power converter connected to a laser source via a fiber optic cable, controlling, by a controller, a laser source driver to drive a laser source providing a laser and the control supporting circuit; and supplying power to the control supporting circuit by irradiating the optical power converter with the laser via the fiber optic cable.     Abstract: A harmonic suppression method and apparatus for a three-phase three-wire cascaded power conversion apparatus is disclosed. The method can include: calculating a first current output from a full-bridge rectifier module to a floating direct current side, the first current being composed of a first current direct current component and a first current double frequency component; and generating a first injection voltage with a triple frequency, so as to inject the first injection voltage into the floating direct current side and transfer at least a portion of the first current double frequency component to a low-voltage direct current side, where total current on the floating direct current side is composed of the first current and a second current after the first injection voltage is injected, the second current is composed of a second current double frequency component and a second current quadruple frequency component, and the amplitude and the phase angle of the first injection voltage are configured so that the first and second current double frequency components are at least partially canceled. The method reduces the demand for capacitance on the floating direct current side of the power conversion apparatus, resulting in a significant increase in power density and high power conversion efficiency.
