Abstract:
A process for producing a metal carbonate-containing shaped catalyst body for the hydrogenation of an organic compound having one or more carbonyl group, in which a) a metal carbonate composition which contains, based on the total weight of the metal carbonate composition, from 70 to 94.5% by weight of a metal carbonate mixture containing two or more than two metal carbonates of two or more than two different metals (M), from 5 to 25% by weight of metallic copper, and from 0.5 to 5% by weight of tableting aid is provided, b) a shaped body is formed from the metal carbonate composition provided in step a), and c) the shaped body obtained in step b) is activated in the presence of hydrogen at a temperature in the range from 150 to 250° C.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for treating shaped catalyst bodies which has the following steps: a) providing finished shaped catalyst bodies, b) impregnating the finished shaped catalyst bodies with a peptizing auxiliary in an amount of liquid which does not exceed the theoretical water absorption of the shaped catalyst bodies, c) thermal treating the impregnated shaped catalyst bodies at from 50° C. to 250° C. and d) calcinating the thermally treated shaped catalyst bodies at from 250° C. to 600° C. A shaped catalyst body which has increased mechanical strength and can be produced by the process of the invention is also provided. The present invention relates to the use of the shaped catalyst bodies of the invention for preparing amines and also in fixed-bed reactors or fluidized-bed reactors and to a chemical synthesis process in the presence of shaped catalyst bodies according to the present invention.
Abstract:
A process makes polytetrahydrofuran, polytetrahydrofuran copolymers, or the mono- or diesters thereof by polymerizing tetrahydrofuran and any comonomers over shaped catalyst bodies. The catalyst bodies include an acid-activated sheet silicate, where the shaped catalyst bodies have the shape of trilobes. A cross section of the trilobes is bounded by three convex curves that each make contact with a circle of diameter d that circumscribes the cross section and have three points of intersection within said circle. A distance a from any two points of intersection is 0.5 to 0.65 times the diameter d of the circle that circumscribes the cross section.
