Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the production of 3 (alkyl phenyl) propanals; certain of which are known to be valuable in the perfumery industry. The process enables this group of chemicals to be produced more easily as compared to known processes for their production. In a preferred embodiment in one step of the process the alkylation of the 3 phenyl propanol is carried out under controlled conditions so as to favor the production of para isomer of the product.
Abstract:
A Tethercraft is a type of UAV coupled to a Lead Aerial Vehicle (LAV) forming a single aerial vehicle operated by a single flight crew thereby increasing cargo capacity and vehicle capability. Automated Flight Control Systems (AFCS) in both the Tethercraft and LAV provide the capability to ‘lock’ a Tethercraft in specific positions relative to its LAV for flight operations such as, but not limited to, takeoff, cruising, and landing. The LAV provides all (towing), some (assisted towing), or none (navigation only) of the propulsion for a Tethercraft depending on the embodiment.A Tethercraft might be positioned closer to the LAV during takeoffs and landings and further away from the LAV during cruising in order to maintain optimum efficiency.A tether can be any rigid, non-rigid, electronic, or other means of coupling two aerial vehicles. Some embodiments might use a means to change the length of the tether such as a winch. Other embodiments might use a fixed-length tether or other means of coupling.
Abstract:
A filter element includes a first, outer tubular construction of filter media defining a first open filter interior; a second, inner tuber construction of filter media defining a second open filter interior; the second construction of filter media being located within the first open filter interior and being radially spaced from the first construction of filter media; and the second open filter interior defines an unfiltered fluid channel. A plastic inner liner is within the first open filter interior to support the first construction of filter media. A plastic outer liner is within the first open filter interior to support the second construction of filter media. A filtered fluid channel is defined between the inner liner and the outer liner. A brace arrangement is between the first and second tubular constructions. The brace arrangement can include a spring, a plurality of gussets, or a solid spacer.
Abstract:
An accelerated weathering test apparatus of the type used to concentrate solar radiation upon test specimens including a fixture connected to a target board including a frame spaced from the target board a predetermined distance by a plurality of stand-offs and having at least one opening defined therein and a transparent element connected to the frame in alignment with each at least one opening in a covering orientation such that the solar radiation from a reflecting solar concentrator impinges upon the test specimens. The predetermined distance is configured such that the frame functions as an extension of a deflector and an operating temperature of the test specimens is shielded from external influences.
Abstract:
Articulating window assemblies are provided comprising, in combination, a windowpane and a hinge having a hinge axis. The hinge comprises a first hinge member that cooperates with a second hinge member and optionally with a hinge pin to form a hinge joint. The first hinge member has at least an encapsulation section with at least a first encapsulant void, optionally two or more encapsulant voids. A continuous body of encapsulant overlays at least a portion of an outward-facing surface of the encapsulation section, at least partially fills the first encapsulant void, overlays at least a portion of an inward-facing surface of the encapsulation section and overlaps either at least a portion of an external peripheral edge of the encapsulation section, a portion of a void edge defining a second encapsulation void, or both from both the outward-facing surface and the inward-facing surface. This provides a mechanical grip of the first hinge member by the encapsulant. The encapsulant is further bonded to an inner surface of the windowpane to retain the first hinge member, and thereby the hinge, to the windowpane. The windowpane of the window assemblies provided is therefore adapted to rotate or articulate about the hinge axis relative to the second hinge member. No portion of the hinge extends through or overlays any portion of the outer surface of the windowpane, enabling a flush, streamlined appearance. Also provided are vehicles having an articulating window assembly in accordance with those just described.
