Abstract:
An automated banking machine operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. The automated banking machine includes a card reader operative to read card data from user cards corresponding to financial accounts. The automated banking machine also includes a display and a printer to produce records of financial transactions carried out with the machine. The card reader is operative to read and return card information read from the user card responsive to communications received from components executing in a virtual machine.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine operates responsive to data read from data bearing records. The machine includes a card reader that is operative to read data from user cards corresponding to financial accounts. The machine includes at least one computer and a plurality of transaction function devices. The machine further includes a plurality of device driver components that generally correspond to each of the transaction function devices. The device drivers are operative responsive to communication from an XFS layer to control the operation of the transaction function devices. The machine operates responsive to markup language documents to accomplish financial transfers.
Abstract:
A cash dispensing automated banking machine (10) operative responsive to user cards and methods of operating the machine to conduct diagnostic tests is provided. The automated banking machine includes a cash dispenser and the machine carries out transaction functions for consumers including dispensing cash. Responsive to a diagnostic article a servicer interface may selectively output textual indicia included in service manuals. Servicers may also selectively conduct diagnostic activities at a servicer interface and a consumer interface on the machine.
Abstract:
An automated transaction machine with a cross-vender software and hardware platform architecture includes a computer and a plurality of transaction function devices. The machine further includes a plurality of device driver components that generally correspond to each of the transaction function devices. The device drivers are operative responsive to communication from an XFS layer to control the operation of the transaction function devices. The machine further includes a terminal application and an ODS layer. The ODS layer includes a plurality of ODS components that generally correspond to the device drivers and/or transaction function devices. The ODS components responsive to the terminal application are operative to have the device drivers control the operation of the transaction function devices through communication with the XFS layer.
Abstract:
A automated banking machine (10) and method of operating the machine is provided. The method comprises causing with a terminal application, at least one transaction function device of the automated banking machine to operate through at least one communication with an XFS layer of the automated banking machine. The automated banking machine may include a cash dispenser and the transaction function may include dispensing cash. The method further comprises causing with at least one diagnostic application, at least one internal component of the at least one transaction function device to perform at least one function without communicating with the at least one transaction function device through the XFS layer. The internal function may include operating a motor or sensor of the cash dispenser.
Abstract:
An automated transaction machine including an extensions for financial services (XFS) layer is provided. An application interface portion of the XFS layer is operative to communicate with an application layer of the ATM which may include terminal applications. A hardware interface portion of the XFS layer is operative to communicate with a hardware layer of the ATM which may include hardware devices of the ATM and associated service providers. A diagnostic application is operative to determine whether problems exist in the application layer or the hardware layer of the ATM by causing a plurality of hardware devices to perform predefined operations using the XFS layer and by monitoring the operations. The diagnostic application is operative to output a determination as to whether a problem with the ATM is associated with the components of the application or hardware layers of the ATM responsive to the success or failure of the operations.
Abstract:
An apparatus that operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records, includes at least one processor that is in operative connection with a card reader, a check acceptor, a cash dispenser and the display. The at least one processor causes the machine to operate to read card data from a user card, and to cause a determination to be made that the read card data corresponds to an authorized financial account. The at least one processor is operative to cause data to be read from a check and/or cash to be dispensed, and a financial transfer to or from the account corresponding to the value thereof. Unauthorized observation of manual inputs to an input device is prevented through the use of nonvisible light emitters that prevent the observation of such inputs via an electronic camera interception device.
Abstract:
A portable terminal operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records in the form of user cards. The user cards include credit and/or debit cards. Data corresponding to the card data is stored in at least one memory of the terminal. The terminal includes a wireless communication device. The terminal operates to wirelessly communicate data corresponding to card data to one or more remote computers to cause financial transfers to or from selected accounts. The terminal also operates to provide outputs corresponding to account balances and to receive data corresponding to receipts.
Abstract:
A banking system machine is controlled responsive to data read from data bearing records. The machine includes a card reader, a keypad, a cash dispenser, a cash outlet, a deposit accepting opening, and other transaction locations that may be susceptible to the installation of fraudulent devices adjacent thereto. Such unauthorized devices may include for example, a fraudulent card reading device, a fraudulent keypad input intercepting device, a cash outlet trap device, a deposit input diversion device, or other illegitimate devices. The machine includes an anti-fraud arrangement that is operative to deter the attachment of unauthorized devices to the machine. The arrangement can sense and/or dislodge an unauthorized device attached to the machine. The arrangement also allows for the machine's card slot bezel to be frequently exchanged for a differently contoured card slot bezel.
Abstract:
An automated banking machine operates to cause financial transfers responsive to data read from data bearing records. The automated banking machine includes a card reader that is operative to read card data corresponding to financial accounts from user cards. The card data is linked in at least one data store to data indicating that the card data corresponds to a financial account that is authorized to be used to conduct at least one transaction through use of the automated banking machine. The automated banking machine may be used to carry out financial transfers involving financial accounts by users who are determined to be authorized users of such accounts. Data corresponding to a financial account can also be linked to a mobile wireless device through inputs by an authorized user through an input device of the automated banking machine.
