Abstract: A method of multi-material 3D printing is performed by an apparatus comprising at least one printhead device; a build platform; a light source; and a computing unit comprising a non-transitory computer-readable medium encoded with program instructions for controlling the at least one printhead device; the build platform; and the light source to perform the method of multi-material 3D printing. In various embodiments, each printhead device comprises a coating section, a curing section, a cleaning section, and optionally, a post-curing section. Each printhead device is configured to perform each of these steps, with the multiple printheads engaged in fabricating a multi-material part layer-by-layer.

Abstract: An orthodontic appliance may include an archwire and multiple orthodontic brackets. The archwire may fit within a human mouth and contain multiple male connectors. Each orthodontic bracket may have a configuration that facilitates attaching the orthodontic bracket to a single tooth. Each orthodontic bracket may allow one of the male connectors to be locked into the orthodontic bracket with a snapping action. The male connector may be unable to slide with respect to the orthodontic bracket after being locked in the orthodontic bracket. A manual unlocking action may allow the male connector to disengage from the orthodontic bracket.

Abstract: A three-dimensional printing approach based on stereolithography with variable printing resolutions to solve the trade-off between throughput and resolution. In this technology, the variable fabrication resolutions are achieved by switching light wavelength. The apparatus includes an optical filter based on high-contrast gratings. In one embodiment, the minimum printing resolution of the accordingly constructed stereolithography apparatus is reduced to 37 μm.

Abstract: A system for additively manufacturing a build part. The system includes a build platform configured for disposition within a resin tank, and a light source configured to cure a layer of resin. The layer of resin is disposed adjacent to a pre-cure build surface of the build part. The system also includes a constrained surface located between the build platform and the light source and configured to form a boundary for the layer of resin disposed between the constrained surface and the pre-cure build surface. The constrained surface is configured to vibrate to reduce a separation force required to separate the constrained surface from a post-cure build surface of the build part. The system also includes a vibratory source configured to vibrate the constrained surface.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for additive manufacturing using stereolithography (“SLA”) materials. The apparatus includes a platform for holding an assembly of SLA resin layers. The apparatus also includes a platform for holding an assembly of SLA resin layers. The apparatus also includes a first movable stage for depositing and curing a portion of the liquid SLA resin on the platform, forming a pattern of cured SLA resin. The apparatus also includes a second movable stage for depositing a low-viscosity non-SLA material in voids in the pattern of cured SLA resin. The apparatus also includes a cooler for cooling the low-viscosity non-SLA material below its freezing point until solidified.
