Abstract:
One or more classification algorithms are applied to at least one natural language document in order to extract both attributes and values of a given product. Supervised classification algorithms, semi-supervised classification algorithms, unsupervised classification algorithms or combinations of such classification algorithms may be employed for this purpose. The at least one natural language document may be obtained via a public communication network. Two or more attributes (or two or more values) thus identified may be merged to form one or more attribute phrases or value phrases. Once attributes and values have been extracted in this manner, association or linking operations may be performed to establish attribute-value pairs that are descriptive of the product. In a presently preferred embodiment, an (unsupervised) algorithm is used to generate seed attributes and values which can then support a supervised or semi-supervised classification algorithm.
Abstract:
A content provider broadcasts content to subscribers through a content distribution system. The content distribution system operator can capture broadcast content in accordance with policies established by the content provider and make the content available subsequent to the original broadcast in accordance with applicable business policies. Business policies are created by the content provider by modifying template information models which have associated rules. The content distributor stores the business policies and evaluates rules indicated by the business policies against attributes of a content asset to determine availability of the content asset.
Abstract:
A method of estimating a channel response of a channel is provided that includes transforming a frequency domain signal received via the channel into a time domain signal and searching the time domain signal for a location of minimum energy. The method also includes padding the time domain signal with zeroes at the location of minimum energy and transforming the padded time domain signal to a second frequency domain signal. The second frequency domain signal is used as an estimated channel response for the channel.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention relates to a composite material including a hydrophobic porous organic polymer bead. An embodiment further relates to a method of obtaining the composite material as well as the use thereof.
Abstract:
A degas assembly including a low pressure fluid channel for carrying a wash fluid at a first pressure, a pressurized channel for carrying eluent including a gas at a second pressure higher than the first pressure, and a degas separator defining a fluid barrier between the low pressure fluid channel and pressurized fluid channel, the separator configured to retain liquid in the pressurized fluid channel and allow gas to flow through the separator to the low pressure fluid channel. The pressurized fluid channel may extend along an outer periphery of the low pressure fluid channel. The eluent may be received from an eluent generator at a pressure of at least about 3300 psi, and in various embodiments up to about 5000 psi. A liquid chromatography system and method are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An apparatus for capillary ion chromatography having a suppressor having flow-through ion exchange packing in a housing and capillary tubing formed of a permselective ion exchange membrane, and at least partially disposed in said ion exchange packing. Also, a recycle conduit for aqueous liquid from the detector to the packing. Further, the capillary tubing may have weakly acidic or weakly basic functional groups. Also, a method for using the apparatus.
Abstract:
A Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) receiver and demodulation method includes an analog and digital separation filter for filtering and separating a DRM-encoded signal and a non DRM-encoded signal from a composite RF signal received at the receiver. The DRM receiver includes a programmable downsampler and a programmable N-point Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to recover and demodulate the OFDM symbols in a received DRM-encoded RF signal. The received signal is digitally sampled at a rate operably integer downsampled to achieve a number N samples in the useful portion of the OFDM symbol for input to an N-point FFT, where N equal to a power of two. The downsampling rate and size (N-points) of the FFT depend on the DRM encoding and transmission parameters, notably the robustness mode and spectrum occupancy. The structure and operation of the receiver in this manner simplifies the design and reduces the required filter order of the analog and digital separation filter.
