Abstract: A lubricant composition includes an oil including a plurality of long-chain hydrocarbon molecules. A quantity of a catalytically active metal-organic additive is mixed with the oil. The metal-organic additive is formulated to fragment the long-chain hydrocarbon molecules of the oil into at least one of dimers and trimers under the influence of at least one of a mechanical loading and a thermal loading. In some embodiments, the metal-organic additive includes a compound of formula II: where: X is Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, Hf, Ta, W, Re, Os, Ir, Pt, Au, Hg, Rf, Db, Sg, Bh, Hs, Mt, Ds, Rg or Cn, and R1, R2, R3 and R4 are alkyl or alkyl halide.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide magnesium oxide particles that have a high heat conductivity and excellent properties as heat-dissipating filler, and can prevent problems such as soft errors in the memory. The magnesium oxide particles have a BET specific surface area of 0.1 to 17 m2/g, and an α dose of 0.005 c/cm2·Hr or lower, the particles exhibiting a relation between an X-ray diffraction peak intensity y (cps) at a Bragg angle (2θ) of 42.80° to 43.00° and the BET specific surface area x (m2/g) as represented by the following inequality (1): y≧−960x+33000 (1).

Abstract: An overbased calcium magnesium sulfonate grease composition and method of manufacture comprising both overbased calcium sulfonate and overbased magnesium sulfonate in a ratio range of 60:40 to 100:1. The grease is made according to any known method for making an overbased calcium sulfonate grease by using the overbased magnesium sulfonate in addition to the overbased calcium sulfonate. A portion of the magnesium sulfonate may be added prior to conversion and another portion after conversion, with or without one or more delay periods between the addition of water or other reactive ingredient and the addition of magnesium sulfonate. The grease can be made using calcium hydroxyapatite and/or added calcium carbonate as calcium containing bases for reacting with complexing acids, a non-aqueous converting agent delay method, added alkali metal hydroxide, or any combination thereof. The grease has a high dropping point and reduced thickener yield.

Abstract: Provided is a one-pack type ultraviolet-thickable thermally conductive silicone grease composition which, at the initial stage, has a low viscosity (is easy to apply) but has high shape retentivity and which, after curing, is pliable (has low hardness). The ultraviolet-thickable thermally conductive silicone grease composition comprises, as essential components, (A) an organopolysiloxane having a viscosity at 25° C. of 50-100,000 mPa·s and containing at least one alkenyl group in the molecule, (B) a liquid organohydrogenpolysiloxane which has a viscosity at 25° C. of 100 mPa·s or less, contains 2-10 silicon-atom-bonded hydrogen atoms in the molecule and contains at least one alkoxy and/or epoxy group bonded to a silicon atom through an alkylene group and in which the polysiloxane has a degree of polymerization of 15 or less and the skeleton of the polysiloxane includes a cyclic structure, (C) a photoactivable platinum complex curing catalyst, and (D) a thermally conductive filler having a thermal conductivity of 10 W/m·° C. or greater.

Abstract: A wear and/or friction reducing additive for a lubricating fluid in which the additive is a combination of a moderately hydrophilic single-phase compound and an anti-wear and/or anti-friction aqueous salt solution. The aqueous salt solution produces a coating on boundary layer surfaces. The lubricating fluid can be an emulsion-free hydrophobic oil, hydraulic fluid, antifreeze, water, or a water-based lubricant. Preferably, the moderately hydrophilic single-phase compound is sulfonated castor oil and the aqueous salt solution additionally contains boric acid and zinc oxide. The emulsions produced by the aqueous salt solutions, the moderately hydrophilic single-phase compounds, or the combination thereof provide targeted boundary layer organizers that significantly enhance the anti-wear and/or anti-friction properties of the base lubricant by decreasing wear and/or friction of sliding and/or rolling surfaces at boundary layers.
