Abstract:
A self-wrapping, textile sleeve for routing and protecting elongate members from exposure to abrasion, thermal and other environmental conditions and method on construction thereof. The sleeve has an elongate wall constructed from interlaced yarns having interstices between adjacent yarns. At least one of the yarns is heat formed at one temperature to form the wall as a self-wrapping wall curling about a longitudinal axis of the sleeve. The wall has an inner surface providing a generally tubular cavity in which the elongate members are received. The wall also has an outer surface with a cured layer thereon. The cured layer is cured at the one temperature at which the yarns are heat formed into their self-wrapping configuration, wherein the cured layer fills the interstices between adjunct yarns to form an impervious layer on the wall.
Abstract:
A rope with a core and a casing surrounding the core. The core is composed of a multitude of synthetic fibers and the casing is composed of a multitude of synthetic fibers that are interlaced with one another. The synthetic fibers that form the casing are composed of polytetrafluoroethylene and form a lightproof and fluid-repellent envelope for the core.
Abstract:
A braided hose reinforcement includes left and right turning strips. Each of the strips includes a number of elongated metal elements embedded in a matrix of a polymer material.
Abstract:
A fire safety line is disclosed having a core of heat-resistant strands twisted together and surround by a tough, cut and abrasion resistant jacket. Preferably, the strands of the core are glass fibers coated with vermiculite and the jacket is formed of braided glass fibers encapsulated by a para-aramid. Stainless steel wire may also be interbraided to reinforce the jacket.
Abstract:
An elevator in which the sheave diameter is reduced and the attendant lowering of the rope life and strength is suppressed to secure safety and reliability. To this end, a rope is used in which a plurality of element wires constituting the wire rope are each covered with resin material and the whole wire rope is covered with resin material, thereby reducing the wear due to slippage between the element wires and the wear due to contact with the sheave, which wear occurs when the rope is entrained around the sheave. When the elevator sheave diameter is reduced, a worried lowering of the rope life can be suppressed or the rope life can be improved. Thus, it is possible to achieve reduction of size and weight of equipment including motors and hoists, installation space saving for elevators, improved safety and reliability of the system by virtue of the increased rope life.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a shackle. The shackle comprises a shackle body for use with a shackle pin. The shackle body comprises a flexible elongate member comprising at least one length of rope circuitously formed so that the flexible elongate member passes through itself and defines three sequentially adjacent noose portions. Three sequentially adjacent noose portions comprise an intermediate noose portion and two end noose portions at opposing ends of the shackle body.
Abstract:
A rope and an elevator. The rope comprises a core, an outer layer of strands, comprising at least four outer strands, and an elastomeric coating creating at least the outer surface of the rope.
Abstract:
Provided herein is an electrodeposition apparatus for producing long polymeric threads, yarns, or ropes. A method of preparing long polymeric threads, yarns or ropes also is provided.
