Abstract: An instrumentation analysis system processes data streams by executing instructions specified using a data stream language program. The data stream language allows users to specify a search condition using a find block for identifying the set of data streams processed by the data stream language program. The set of identified data streams may change dynamically. The data stream language allows users to group data streams into sets of data streams based on distinct values of one or more metadata attributes associated with the input data streams. The data stream language allows users to specify a threshold block for determining whether data values of input data streams are outside boundaries specified using low/high thresholds. The elements of the set of data streams input to the threshold block can dynamically change. The low/high threshold values can be specified as data streams and can dynamically change.

Abstract: Technology is disclosed for improving performance during playback of logged data storage operations. The technology can monitor a log to which data storage operations are written before data is committed to a volume; determine counts of various types of data storage operations; and when the counts exceed a specified threshold, cause the data storage operations to be committed to the volume. Some data storage operations can be coalesced during playback to further improve performance.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for systems, devices and methods effective to monitor performance of a computing device. A computing device may receive a specified counting rate. The computing device may count at the specified counting rate to generate a sequence of counting numbers. The computing device may identify a first output of a process, such as results from computations performed on data, and may identify a first counting number when the first output is identified. The computing device may identify a second output of the process, such as additional results from the computations, and may identify a second counting number when the second output is identified. The computing device may then determine whether an alert should be generated based on the first and second counting numbers such as when a difference between the first and second counting numbers exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: A quality score for a computer application release is determined using a first number of unique users who have launched the computer application release on user devices and a second number of unique users who have encountered at least once an abnormal termination with the computer application release on user devices. Additionally or optionally, an application quality score can be computed for a computer application based on quality scores of computer application releases that represent different versions of the computer application. Additionally or optionally, a weighted application quality score can be computed for a computer application by further taking into consideration the average application quality score and popularity of a plurality of computer applications.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for monitoring performance of multithreaded workloads. A workload module starts a workload comprising one or more threads. The workload reaches a steady state after a period of time. A data module receives a first set of performance data for each thread in response to the workload reaching the steady state. The first set of performance data is received concurrently for each thread. The data module receives a second set of performance data for each thread a period of time after the first set of performance data is received. The second set of performance data is received concurrently for each thread. A result module calculates one or more performance metrics for each thread based on the first and second sets of performance data.

Abstract: A system detection method and apparatus. Throughput and response time of a system are acquired. Throughput reflects the number of requests processed by the system that are received from outside the system. The response time reflects time required to process requests from outside the system. A system performance characteristic parameter based on the throughput and response time is obtained and used to describe congestion of the system to determine bottlenecks in the system by at least obtaining system performance characteristic parameter based on the throughput and the response time and conducting noise filtering on the system performance characteristic parameter. A bottleneck is determined based on the noise filtered system performance characteristic parameter. The system detection method and apparatus allow detecting a bottleneck and flow control are provided in a simple and effective way to ensure that requests are processed in time.

Abstract: Topology discovery of a target system having a plurality of components coupled with a scan topology may be performed by driving a low logic value on the data input signal and a data output signal of the scan topology. An input data value and an output data value for each of the plurality of components is sampled and recorded. A low logic value is then scanned through the scan path and recorded at each component. The scan topology may be determined based on the recorded data values and the recorded scan values.
