Abstract:
A display apparatus is provided, which includes a receiver configured to receive a writing trace performed on a remote controller, a detector configured to extract a character that corresponds to the writing trace, a display configured to display the character and at least one item that corresponds to the character, and a controller configured to, if a user's operation is performed in one direction on the remote controller, automatically execute a function that corresponds to the at least one item that is positioned in the direction in which the user's operation is performed.
Abstract:
In a known air conditioner, when the operation setting of the air conditioner is changed from a visiting destination or the like by a user using a terminal, another user in an air-conditioned space in which the air conditioner is provided may misunderstand the change as a malfunction of the air conditioner. A sound notification controller (sound notification unit) of an air conditioner is arranged such that, when an operation change instruction is supplied from a terminal different from a remote controller which is an accessory of the air conditioner, the air conditioner notifies by a message that the operation change instruction is supplied from the terminal, in response to the operation change instruction supplied from the terminal.
Abstract:
A vehicle computing system enabling one or more processors to establish a communication connection with at least one of a plurality of handheld computing devices within a vehicle while enabling and determining infotainment control based on the location of the handheld device in the vehicle. The system may determine if the at least one of a plurality of handheld computing devices is a driver or non-driver handheld computing device based on a detected location of the communication connection. The system may determine that the at least one of a plurality of handheld computing devices is a non-driver handheld computing device based on the detected location, therefore enabling infotainment control from the non-driver handheld device. The system may determine that the at least one of a plurality of handheld computing devices is a driver handheld computing device based on the detected location, therefore limiting infotainment control from the driver handheld device.
Abstract:
A load control system may include devices for performing communications for controlling an amount of power provided to an electrical load. The devices may include load control devices that may communicate by transmitting digital messages. A user device having an adjustable wireless communication range may be used for discovering devices, configuring devices, and/or diagnosing devices in the load control system. The user device may detect whether devices are within an established wireless communication range of one another for performing communications. The user device may detect digital messages transmitted from a device and/or digital messages received at a device to determine whether the digital messages are correctly communicated in the load control system. The user device may provide an indication to a user indicating whether a digital message is correctly transmitted or received by a device in the load control system.
Abstract:
A user can automatically change a user interface of a portable terminal into a user interface of an electronic appliance suitable for user's intention. A portable terminal recognizes a circumferentially existing electronic appliance based on a photographic image or a radio signal, and allows one or more applications having a user interface varying by electronic appliance to start and then be resident in a memory of the portable terminal. Then, when the portable terminal recognizes a predetermined electronic appliance, the portable terminal changes a user interface displayed on a display unit and an input unit of the portable terminal into a user interface of an application associated with the predetermined electronic appliance to enable a user to view the user interface. When a user puts the portable terminal to a predetermined direction, the portable terminal recognizes an electronic appliance existing in the direction and displays the corresponding user interface.
Abstract:
A portable information processing device (1) includes a dedicated return function switch (35) provided on the surface of a housing (20) for returning the portable information processing device to an immediately precedent operation in a remote operation of an apparatus to be controlled in the remote control mode and a shared switch (32, 33) provided on the surface of the housing separately from the dedicated return function switch and sharable in the remote control mode and in the information processing mode.
Abstract:
A remote control program installed in a cell phone is activated to read a window number allocated to an operation window output and displayed on a TV receiver from a memory unit of the cell phone and to display corresponding help information on a display unit of the cell phone (steps S100 and S110). In response to the user's manipulation of one of buttons on an operation unit of the cell phone, the remote control program displays button function information representing the functions of the respective buttons on the operation unit, while converting an input signal into an operation signal and sending the converted operation signal together with the window number (steps S120 to S150).
Abstract:
Systems and methods for managing playback devices in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a method for modifying a system that includes several devices. The method includes steps for measuring a first signal pattern for wireless signals between the several devices, measuring a second signal pattern for the wireless signals after measuring the first signal pattern between the several devices, determining an updated state of the system based on a difference between the second signal pattern and the first signal pattern, and modifying state variables of one or more devices of the playback system based on the determined updated state.
Abstract:
A remote control device my comprise a control unit and a mounting structure (e.g., a smart mounting structure) to which the control unit is configured to be mounted. The control unit may be configured to operate in a plurality of operating modes. The control unit may transmit a first message for controlling a first electrical load when the control unit is operating in a first operating mode and a second message for controlling a second electrical load when the control unit is operating in a second operating mode. When the control unit is mounted to the mounting unit, the mounting unit may transmit a third message to the first control circuit of the control unit in response to receiving a user input received via an input circuit of the control unit. The control unit may change between the plurality of operating modes in response to receiving the third message.
Abstract:
A ceiling fan for a space is provided. The ceiling fan can include a first communication interface configured to provide communications between the ceiling fan and a plurality of peripheral devices over a local network. The ceiling fan can further include a second communication interface configured to provide communications between the ceiling fan and an external network. The ceiling fan can further include one or more control devices configured to provide one or more control signals to control operation of one or more of the peripheral devices.
