An information processing system includes one or more devices configured to operate based on setting information for controlling an operation; and at least one external device configured to change the setting information of the device. The external device includes circuitry configured to: acquire the setting information of the device, generate change information obtained by changing the acquired setting information, and set the change information in the device. The device includes circuitry configured to: acquire the setting information from a setting storage and transmit the acquired setting information to the external device, acquire the change information in the external device, and rewrite original setting information stored in the setting storage to the acquired change information.

An information processing apparatus including a transmission function of transmitting data receives data including at least a destination field and a data field set to be transferred. Setting is performed so that a setting included in a field in the received data is added to a setting previously set as a setting for the transmission function. Data is transmitted to destinations that have been set as settings for the transmission function.

An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus and a communication terminal. The image forming apparatus communicates with the communication terminal and includes an operation panel that displays a first display screen and accepts an operation of inputting information, and a hardware processor. The communication terminal communicates with the image forming apparatus, displays a second display screen, and accepts input of information and includes a central processing unit (CPU) that notifies the input of the information to the image forming apparatus. The communication terminal transmits the information input in the input device to the image forming apparatus, and the hardware processor determines whether the status of the operation panel is a status that accepts the operation, and upon the status of the operation panel being the status that accepts the operation, switches the first display screen to a screen that accepts the operation.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a scanner having an address management function. Once a network address in entered into the scanner, the scanner can interact with the corresponding network device, which makes the scanner an independent device in the network. A scanner according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a scanning module unit; a storing unit configured to store addresses of recipients; an address management unit configured to edit and sort the addresses stored in the storing unit; an operation interface unit configured to receive selection of one or more addresses; a network connection unit connected to a network; and a processor configured to control operations performed by the scanner.

In a communication system, an image forming apparatus sends an address of a receiving section to a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal receives a selection of an image data among plural thumbnails displayed on a display section, and wirelessly sends the selected image data to the image forming apparatus with the address. The image forming apparatus receives the selected image data sent with the address by the mobile terminal, and prints an image based on the selected image data. A communication between the mobile terminal and the image forming apparatus is performed wirelessly with an IEEE 802.11 standard. The image forming apparatus rejects a connection establishment request from another mobile terminal except for the mobile terminal, when the wireless communication with the mobile terminal is established.

Using face detection procedures, embodiments of the present invention can detect the presence of multiple of contacts within an image. Embodiments of the present invention can also associate the faces detected within the image with contacts belonging to a list of contacts stored on a mobile device. Additionally, embodiments of the present invention are operable to store contact information associated with recognizable contacts found into the image. In this fashion, upon rendering an image, the user can automatically call a contact in the image by clicking on the contact's image or can automatically create a conference call by clicking on more than one contact present in the image. Furthermore, embodiments of the present invention allow users to provide contact information manually during storage procedures for any unrecognized subjects found in the image. Furthermore, embodiments of the present invention can encrypt contact information stored within the image.
