    Abstract: An electrostatic coating device is provided with a housing, which has a cascade housing section that houses a cascade, and a motor housing section that houses an air motor. A clearance between the cascade and the inner wall of a first housing hole forms a first air flow passage. Furthermore, an annular clearance between the air motor (specifically, an air turbine) and the inner wall of a motor chamber forms a second air flow passage. The first air flow passage and the second air flow passage are communicated with each other via, for instance, a third air flow passage that includes a first communication passage, a circular recessed section, a second communication passage, and a third communication passage.

    Abstract: An electrostatic atomizing coating apparatus and method incorporate a rotary head having a base portion, an open end and a plurality of grooves formed radially on an inner peripheral surface of the open end, an inside diameter of the rotary head increasing from the base portion toward the open end, and a motor configured to rotate the rotary head to discharge a thread-shaped paint. A voltage is applied to the rotary head so as to form an electrostatic field between the open end of the rotary head and an earthed coating target and to electrostatically atomize the thread-shaped paint discharged from the open end. Voltage output from the generator is controlled so as to adjust an intensity of the electrostatic field and to control a particle diameter of the electrostatically atomized thread-shaped paint.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a coating method for coating a component with a coating agent, comprising the following steps: moving an application device over a component surface of the component to be coated, delivering a coating agent jet (9) from the application device to the component surface that is to be coated, defining switching points on the component surface for initiating a switching action, in particular for switching on or switching off a coating agent jet, and performing the switching action when one of the switching points is reached. The disclosure provides the following steps: marking the switching points on the component surface by generating a switching marking on the component surface at the individual switching points, detecting the switching markings corresponding to the individual switching points during movement of the application device, and performing the switching actions when the switching markings are detected on the component surface. The disclosure further includes a corresponding coating installation.

    Abstract: A charge remaining in an electrostatic coater when power supply to the electrostatic coater is stopped is neutralized at an early stage.A rotary atomizing head 102 receives a high voltage of negative polarity from a cascade 104. An electrostatic coater 100 further includes a second high-voltage generator 110 that generates a high voltage of positive polarity. The second high-voltage generator 110 is composed of a Cockcroft-Walton circuit. The Cockcroft-Walton circuit is composed of diodes and capacitors. A high voltage of the electrostatic coater 100 is controlled by a controller 10. Immediately after running of the electrostatic coater 100 is stopped by stopping power supply to the cascade 104, power is supplied to the second high-voltage generator 110. The high voltage of positive polarity generated by the second high-voltage generator 110 is supplied to the rotary atomizing head 102 for a predetermined time period.
