Abstract: The present invention provides an ionizing radiation curable paint composition which is capable of forming a cured film that has excellent elongation (for example, 30% or more) under heating and has excellent solvent resistance and chemical resistance and which can contain an alcohol as a diluent solvent. The ionizing radiation curable paint composition contains a urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer (A1) having 6 or more (meth)acryloyl groups and having a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 50,000, wherein the urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer (A1) is a silicone-modified oligomer having a constituent unit (a) derived from a multifunctional (meth)acrylate monomer having a hydroxy group and 3 or more (meth)acryloyl groups, a constituent unit (b) derived from an alcohol having 2 or more hydroxy groups and having a molecular weight of 100 or lower, a constituent unit (c) derived from isophorone diisocyanate, and a constituent unit (d) derived from a carbinol-modified polysiloxane.

Abstract: Provided herein are sulfated compounds that are useful as high refractive index monomers for optical and other applications and methods for producing the same. The sulfated compounds are liquid at room temperature and exhibit good miscibility with other monomers. They are branched and can act as crosslinking agents, increasing the rigidity of the resulting polymers. They have low molecular weights and are useful in combinations with higher viscosity oligomers or crystalline monomers and to generate curable compositions. Also provided herein are high refractive index curable compositions produced from the sulfated compounds suitable for the production optical articles, including for coatings, gratings, and other surface features. Further provided are high refractive index nanocomposite materials made from the sulfated compounds and curable compositions. Also provided herein are articles and optical devices incorporating the curable compositions and nanocomposites described herein.

Abstract: A coating applied to an article is provided. The coating has an adhesive material, in contact with at least one substrate of the article. The coating has a plurality of high density metal pellets disposed in the adhesive material. The high density metal pellets are in an amount of at least 90% by weight of the total weight percent of the coating, and each high density metal pellet has a diameter of at least 0.04 inch. The coating further has a polymer material. The coating is applied to the at least one substrate of the article to obtain a mass-enhanced, coated article. The coating has a coating thickness of at least 0.25 inch. The coating thickness and the amount of high density metal pellets are sufficient to provide an attenuation of vibration of the coated article and a reduced risk of unwanted ergonomic effects.

Abstract: In one aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided an antireflective coating composition comprising (a) hydrophilic spherical silica nanoparticles; (b) hydrophilic elongated silica nanoparticles, wherein the coating composition exhibits a pH-value in the range of from 7 to 12.5 and the ratio between the hydrophilic spherical silica nanoparticles (a) and the hydrophilic nonspherical silica nanoparticles (b) is in the range of from 10:1 to 1:10. In a further aspect of the present disclosure there is provided a method for coating a substrate, comprising the steps (i) providing a substrate having at least one surface; (ii) providing the antireflective coating composition according to the present disclosure; (iii) coating the substrate on at least one surface; (iv) drying the coating, thereby obtaining a coated substrate, wherein step (iv) is carried out at a temperature in the range of from 5° C. to 300° C.
