Abstract: A vehicular device includes: a function processing unit that executes an application software; a volatile memory that temporarily stores a backup data; and a backup processing unit that copies the backup data from the volatile memory to a non-volatile memory when an event for terminating an operation occurs. The function processing unit and the backup processing unit execute processes independently, and are accessible to a same memory space in the volatile memory, respectively. The function processing unit reads out the backup data from the volatile memory and reboots the application software when an event for maintaining an activation occurs while the backup processing unit is storing the backup data from the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for protection of data servers configured for data replication of a database. As an example, one apparatus includes at least one processing circuit configured to receive records indicating respective modifications performed on a first version of the database stored in a first data server of the plurality of data servers. The at least one processing circuit is configured to delay replication of the modification in one or more additional servers in the plurality of data servers for a respective length of time specified for the servers in a security profile. While delaying replication of the modification, the processing circuit determines a probability that the modification is malicious based on a first set of factors indicated in a security profile. If the probability is greater than a threshold specified in the security profile, the processing circuit prevents the modification from being performed.

Abstract: A method and associated systems for simultaneously compressing multiple stored videos. A file-backup system receives a set of uncompressed media files. The system divides the files into file clusters, each of which contains files that share common static-media metadata, such as a frame rate or resolution. For each file cluster, the frames of all files in the cluster are organized into a set of first-order frame clusters, each cluster containing frames that share common static-media metadata and common semantic metadata, such as a genre description. For each first-level frame cluster, the frames contained in that cluster are further divided into second-order frame clusters, each of which contains frames that share common static-media metadata, semantic metadata, and dynamic visual metadata, which describes in-frame entities, such as a texture or a background object. Each second-level cluster is then independently compressed and the results stored as one or more files.

Abstract: Techniques to scan and reorganize media files to remove gaps are described. In one embodiment, an apparatus may comprise a media handling component operative to receive a media file, the media file comprising a header portion and an encoded media portion, the header portion comprising one or more indexing tables, the encoded media portion comprising a plurality of encoded chunks; a media topology component operative to build an encoded media topology list by scanning the one or more indexing tables; and a media rebuilding component operative to build the media file into a rebuilt media file by copying the plurality of encoded chunks while generating one or more replacement indexing tables where the encoded media topology list indicates that the encoded media portion contains one or more unreferenced portions. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A distributed indexing system spreads out the load on an index of stored data in a data storage system. Rather than maintain a single index, the distributed indexing system maintains an index in each media agent of a federated data storage system and a master index that points to the index in each media agent. In some embodiments, the distributed indexing system includes an index server (or group of servers) that handles indexing requests and forwards the requests to the appropriate distributed systems. Thus, the distributed indexing system, among other things, increases the availability and fault tolerance of a data storage index.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems and methods for removes and/or adding log and/or cache devices to storage pools of a storage appliance. Users, via a graphical-user interface, identify the log and/or cache devices for removal or addition. Subsequently, the log and/or cache devices are moved, according to a data profile corresponding to the devices, from a first storage appliance to a second storage appliance.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed towards fault-tolerant methods, systems and architectures for data distribution. One method includes generating fault distribution tables. The table entries correspond to a copy of data records. The entry and copy are associated with a fault status, a node, and a group that are based on a position of the entry within the distribution table. The method also includes storing the copy of the data record that corresponds to the entry in a database that is included in a plurality of databases. In response to determining an unavailable node included in the plurality of nodes, the method determines a fault status, a node, and a group. The method provides an available node sequential access to data records that are stored in a particular database that is stored locally on the available node in a tree structure.

Abstract: Embodiments of memory backup management in computing devices and associated methods of operations are disclosed therein. In one embodiment, a method of managing memory backup includes in response to a system error being detected, causing a memory controller to disengage from communicating with and controlling a hybrid memory device having a volatile memory module and a non-volatile memory module. The method can also include causing the hybrid memory device to copy data from the volatile memory module to the non-volatile memory module subsequent to disengaging the memory controller communicating with and controlling the storage device and without operating the main processor and the memory controller.
