    Abstract: Provided are a filter array, a spectral detector including the filter array, and a spectrometer employing the spectral detector. The filter array may have a multi-array structure including a plurality of filter arrays. The filter array may include a first filter array having a first structure in which a plurality of first filters with different transmittance spectrums are arranged, and a second filter array having a second structure in which a plurality of second filters with different transmittance spectrums are arranged, the second filter array being arranged to at least partially overlap the first filter array at a first position relative to the first filter array so that the multi-arrangement type filter array has a first set of absorbance characteristics. The second filter array may be configurable to be arranged to at least partially overlap the first filter array at a second position relative to the first filter array so that the multi-arrangement type filter array has a second set of absorbance characteristics different from the first set of absorbance characteristics.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a spectrometer, comprising: an illumination device for illuminating a spectrometric measurement region; a detection unit for detecting electromagnetic radiation coming from the spectrometric measurement region; and a spectral element, which is arranged in the beam path between the illumination device and the detection unit. The illumination device comprises: a light emitting diode having a first central wavelength, which is designed to emit first electromagnetic radiation having a first spectrum; and a luminescent element for converting a first component of the first electromagnetic radiation having the first spectrum into second electromagnetic radiation having a second spectrum. The first central wavelength is 550 nm or 3000 nm or has a value between 550 nm and 3000 nm. The first spectrum and the second spectrum have an overlap.

    Abstract: A photonic integrated circuit (PIC) spectrometer for sensing the spectroscopic signature of airborne molecules, comprising a dispersive element to separate the spectral information spatially, and a tuning mechanism for said dispersive element to convert the spectral information to time-dependent information. The approach allows the PIC spectrometer to have a single (or a few) output pin(s), enabling sensing of the environment with a simple packaged chip that is compact, lightweight, energy efficient and low cost, making it suitable for platforms that have a small form factor, a small power budget, and are cost sensitive, such as mobile devices.

    Abstract: An inspection device includes: an illumination device that irradiates an object with near infrared light; a spectroscope that disperses reflected light from the object irradiated with the near infrared light; an imaging device that takes a spectroscopic image of the reflected light dispersed by the spectroscope; and a processor. The processor: obtains spectral data at a plurality of points on the object based on the spectroscopic image obtained by the imaging device; selects, as typical spectral data representing the object from among the spectral data at the plurality of points, one of: spectral data in which a luminance value in a predetermined wavelength is a median value; and spectral data in which a summation of luminance values in a predetermined wavelength range is a median value; and performs a predetermined analysis for the object based on the typical spectral data and detects a different type of object.
