    Abstract: An electrical connector for an electrical connection within a fuel system, the electrical connector comprising first and second electrical connector pins, and an overmould for the first and second electrical connector pins. Each of the first and second electrical connector pins includes an external portion which projects from the overmould, an internal portion to which the overmould is applied, and a chamfered portion located between the internal portion and the external portion. The internal portion of each of the first and second electrical connector pins includes a region having a first dimension adjacent to the chamfered region and at least two axially spaced projections which extend radially from the internal portion beyond the region having a first dimension, adjacent ones of the axially spaced projections being separated axially by a region of the internal portion having a reduced dimension compared to the region having a first dimension.

    Abstract: A fuel vapor storage canister including an integral fuel trap is provided. The fuel trap includes bifurcated chambers with the dual purpose of trapping liquid trace and attenuating noise entering the canister shell and tank line. The upper chamber includes a baffle to block and collect liquid trace, the liquid trace falling through an opening in a partition for collection in a fuel trace collector. The fuel trace collector is suitably positioned within the lower chamber, immediately beneath the opening, and includes a cavity and a venturi. The venturi creates a region of low pressure during purging, which evacuates the cavity by suction. The cavity optionally includes an activated carbon billet, which maintains the pressure level in the fuel vapor line above a predetermined minimum value and which aids in converting the liquid trace to fuel vapor as well as in further attenuating noise escaping into the tank line.

    Abstract: A valve assembly is provided. The valve assembly includes a body having an annular valve seat. A central ring is concentric with the annular valve seat, and a plurality of vanes extend radially between the central ring and the annular valve seat. A receiver is defined by an axial through hole in the central ring and an annular outer lip adjacent the through hole. The outer lip includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced notches disposed in an inner perimeter of the lip. The assembly also includes an umbrella valve having a flexible, disk-shaped cap and an elongated stem extending axially from a center of the cap. The stem has an enlarged portion proximate a terminal end that is received through the outer lip and into the receiver to secure the umbrella valve in the central ring. A fuel reservoir and a method of making the valve assembly are also provided.

    Abstract: A pressure sensor assembly includes an external housing unit; a sensor unit received within the external housing unit, the external housing unit has an external surface including a mounting surface; a sensing element mounted within the sensor unit and including a pressure-sensing surface; a substrate upon which the mounting surface is mounted; an air passage to enable air to impinge on the sensing element; and a filling passage, separate from the air flow passage, for the introduction of an encapsulation material onto the sensor unit, during assembly. The encapsulation material covers at least a part of the external surface of the sensor unit but does not cover the pressure-sensing surface of the sensing element which remains directly exposed to air within the air passage.

    Abstract: An impeller for a fluid pump includes a hub having an outer surface; an outer ring which is concentric with the hub and having an inner surface; and a plurality of blades extending from a root at the outer surface to a tip at the inner surface. Each of the blades has a first leg and a second leg which meet at a vertex such that a concave side of the blades faces toward a rotational direction and such that a convex side of the blades faces away from the rotational direction. The concave side of each one of the plurality of blades forms a draft angle with the convex side of another one of the plurality of blades which is immediately adjacent thereto in the rotational direction. The draft angle at the inner surface is less than or equal to 10% of the draft angle at the outer surface.

    Abstract: A fluid pump includes a rotor which is centered about an axis, the rotor having a rotor central chamber and a plurality of vane slots. A stator has a recess therein within which the rotor is located, the recess having a recess peripheral surface which is eccentric to the axis. Each vane slot includes a vane therein such that the vanes define a plurality of pumping chambers which expand and contract based on rotational position the rotor relative to the stator. A positioning ring is located within the rotor central chamber such that the positioning ring engages each vane and such that the positioning ring urges each vane into contact with the recess peripheral surface. The positioning ring is radially aligned with a midpoint of each vane.

    Abstract: A method for assessing a thermal path associated with an integrated circuit includes identifying a heat application mode based on a design type of the integrated circuit. The method also includes measuring a first temperature of at least one thermal sensing device associated with the integrated circuit. The method also includes applying heat to at least a portion of the integrated circuit according to the heat application mode. The method also includes measuring a second temperature of the at least one thermal sensing device. The method also includes determining a difference between the first temperature and the second temperature. The method also includes determining whether a thermal path between the integrated circuit and an associated substrate is sufficient based on a comparison of the difference between the first temperature and the second temperature with a predetermined difference between an initial temperature and a subsequent temperature of the at least one thermal sensing device.

    Abstract: A fuel pump includes a pump housing with a pumping chamber an inlet valve bore. An inlet valve selectively provides and prevents fluid communication between an inlet of the fuel pump and the pumping chamber. The inlet valve includes an inner housing received within the inlet valve bore such that an outer periphery of the inner housing is sealed to an inner periphery of the inlet valve bore. An outer housing circumferentially surrounds the inner housing. An annular chamber is defined radially between the inner housing and the outer housing and axially between the outer housing and the pump housing. A sealing ring is located within the annular chamber such that the sealing ring is compressed axially against the pump housing and the outer housing.
