Abstract:
A writing implement with storage enclosure disclosed is adapted for attaching to a surface of, or being integrated with, a range of objects for convenient access. The writing implement is length-compressible for compact retention in an associated storage enclosure, and extendable for greater ease of use. Retained in the storage enclosure, the top of the writing implement is flush, or nearly flush with the opening of the storage enclosure.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an interactive intelligent toy comprising an intelligent element configured to resemble a person, animal, vehicle or other character and an environmental element configured to resemble a related environment, habitat or object. The intelligent element is adapted to perform certain preprogrammed actions upon coming into contact with or proximity to the environmental element. In one embodiment, the intelligent element is a motive component having a drive mechanism, a control mechanism and power source. The motive component is programmed to monitor and detect user and event inputs, and detect and decode embedded codes from an environmental element and perform predetermined actions or generate predetermined sounds in response. The motive component also engages with a coupling component and supplies the drive mechanism and power source for moving both the motive component and the coupling component.
Abstract:
A process is provided for creating feed pellets from agricultural residue material having substantially no food value, such as corn stover. The agricultural residue material is harvested and baled for transport to a storage and processing site. The baled agricultural residue material is then shredded and ground, and one or more chemical agents are added to depolymerize the fiber (lignin-carbohydrate) matrix of the agricultural residue material. Agricultural processing byproducts such as distiller's solubles and dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) are added to the agricultural residue material, either before or after the chemical agents are added, to form a combined material. The combined material is then pelletized into feed pellets, which may be transported and stored for later consumption by animals. The process produces a nutritionally enhanced material which is more easily digested than existing feed rations.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved method for estimating range of objects in images from various distances comprising receiving a set of images of the scene having multiple objects from at least one camera in motion. Due to the motion of the camera, each of the images are obtained at different camera locations. Then an object visible in multiple images is selected. Data related to approximate camera positions and orientations and the images of the visible object are used to estimate the location of the object relative to a reference coordinate system. Based on the computed data, a projected location of the visible object is computed and the orientation angle of the camera for each image is refined. Additionally, pairs of cameras with various locations can obtain dense stereo for regions of the image at various ranges.
Abstract:
The image data processing system and method disclosed, processes intermediate compressed binary data representing images scanned for copy or exporting, thereby enabling storage of the copy or export file to a common memory storage device. According to an exemplary embodiment, the image data processing system comprises a binary lossless decompress module, a binary to contone restoration module, and an export processing module, the export processing module processing multiple bit image data for exporting to an image data receiving device.
Abstract:
In accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, a system may include a preheater, a torrefaction reactor, and a furnace. The preheater may be configured to heat biomass from a first temperature to an approximate desired torrefaction temperature. The torrefaction reactor may be configured to maintain heating of the biomass at approximately the approximate desired torrefaction temperature for a particular period of time to generate torrefied biomass. The furnace may be configured to generate and convey via one or more conduits heat to the preheater, and the torrefaction reactor.
Abstract:
A vertical wiped thin-film evaporator (WFE) may be bottom fed or top fed. Some embodiments have integral entrainment separation devices. Some embodiments are configured with replaceable rotor blade cartridges to facilitate experimenting with different blade configurations, blade pitches and directions (up or down) of thin film displacement for various modes of operation. Some embodiments can be operated in either co-current or counter-current modes, without requiring modification to their “overheads” (entrainment separation, condensing and vacuum) systems. Some embodiments include a variety of feed nozzles and/or a variety of “bottoms” nozzles. The available nozzles provide flexibility in operating the device, such as selecting a mode (top feeding or bottom feeding) of operation or co-current or counter-current vapor extraction.
Abstract:
An electron emitter assembly for use in an x-ray emitting device or other electron emitter-containing device is disclosed. In one embodiment, an x-ray tube is disclosed, including a vacuum enclosure that houses both an anode having a target surface, and a cathode positioned with respect to the anode. The cathode includes an electron emitter having a plurality of substantially parallel emission surfaces that collectively emit a beam of electrons for impingement on the target anode. In one aspect, the plurality of substantially parallel emission surfaces are angled relative focusing region so as to provide a substantially uniform thermal load on the target anode. In another aspect, the electron emitter includes a plurality of cut-outs that accommodate thermal expansion in the plane of the emitter. Accommodating thermal expansion in the plane of the emitter prevents distortions to the emitter that would tend to alter the focusing of the electrons on the target anode. Providing a substantially uniform thermal load on the target anode and preventing thermal distortion of the emitter lead to higher x-ray flux and better focusing for higher quality x-ray images.
