Abstract:
Provided are battery modules having two different types electrochemistry connected in series, which includes a plurality of a first cell, wherein the first cell includes an anode active material of graphite, Si, SiOx, or a blend thereof as a main component (“a GSi cell”), and at least one of a second cell, wherein the second cell includes an anode active material of a lithium titanate oxide or titanate oxide able to be lithiated as a main component (“a LTO cell”). Also provided are battery systems that include a plurality of the battery modules.
Abstract:
The present invention is notably directed to methods and systems for protecting a pre-charge circuit. The present invention is further directed to related computer-implemented program product. The method comprises monitoring the current flowing through the current limiting device, calculating the energy loading of the current limiting device over time, and managing the system state to prevent damaging operation of the pre-charge circuit.
Abstract:
A metal foil including on at least one of its sides a layer of a material including: a metal or a metal alloy, carbon, hydrogen, and optionally oxygen, the atomic percentage of the metal or of the metals of the alloy in the material ranging from 10 to 60%, the atomic percentage of carbon in the material ranging from 35 to 70%, the atomic percentage of hydrogen in the material ranging from 2 to 20%, and the atomic percentage of oxygen if present in the material being less than or equal to 10%. The metal foil can be used in the manufacture of a cathode of a lithium-ion electrochemical cell. The deposition of this layer reduces the internal resistance of the cell.
Abstract:
Leaktight box for alkaline electrolyte battery, comprising an assembly of metal plates, where: a first and a second plate overlap in a zone of overlap and are assembled with rivets each comprising a head, a stem and a bulb; the stem of the rivets is deformed in such a way as to occupy in a leaktight manner substantially all of the volume of said holes of the first and second plates; preferably an elastomer seal comprising a material chosen from among a butyl rubber, an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer and a nitrile rubber, where said seal is disposed in continuity with the overlap zone in continuous contact with the first and the second plate in such a way as to complete the leaktightness of the box.
Abstract:
A method for connecting electrodes of the same polarity of an accumulator (1) to a current output terminal (6, 7), the accumulator including two current output terminals (6, 7), a container (2) containing an electrochemical bundle (9) having alternating positive and negative electrodes, the ends of the current collectors of the positive and negative electrodes defining a first (Si) and second (S2) surface respectively. There is a step of additive manufacturing of an internal connecting part (11, 13) electrically connecting the first and/or the second surface to the corresponding current output terminal.
Abstract:
A device for aiding in the fracture of a vent of an electrochemical cell includes a main body having a first surface and a plurality of lobes extending out from the first surface of the main body such that an open space is provided between adjacent lobes. Each of the plurality of lobes are configured to make contact with the vent during deployment of the vent such that the vent completely separates from a bottom of the electrochemical cell. The open space provided between adjacent lobes is configured to allow gases from inside the electrochemical cell to pass through during deployment of the vent.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a system for managing the charging of a rechargeable battery by a voltage control or by a current control comprising a plurality (n) of branches connected in series, each branch comprising a plurality (p) of electrochemical elements connected in parallel. Each electrochemical element exhibits a charging profile (PC) comprising at least one plateau zone directly followed by a sloping zone in which the variation of the voltage as a function of the state of charge in the plateau zone is on average at least ten times less fast than the variation of the voltage in the sloping zone.
Abstract:
The invention resolves the problem of swelling of sealing electrochemical cells of prismatic format when they are assembled side by side in a grouping box by proposing a battery comprising at least two electrochemical cells (1a, 1b) of prismatic format, wherein the electrochemical cells are separated by a rigid wedge (2) having a hardness greater than or equal to 90 Shore A according to the standard ASTM D 2240 and by a flexible wedge (3) having a hardness of up to 60 Shore A according to the standard ASTM D 2240, the rigid wedge and the flexible wedge being electrically insulating.

Abstract:
In a system and method for detecting venting of a sealed storage cell, the sealed storage cell comprises a container with a sealing cap adapted to be detached from the container and move in the presence of gas overpressure inside the container to allow venting of the storage cell. The detection system comprises a printed circuit board with a central portion designed to be situated opposite the sealing cap, a peripheral portion surrounding the central portion and connected to the central portion by a hinge adapted to flex during movement of the sealing cap, and at least one frangible portion adapted to break upon movement of the sealing cap. An electrical printed track connects the peripheral portion to the central portion through the hinge and frangible portion(s), and is designed to be broken upon breaking of the frangible portion(s) following movement of the sealing cap.
