Abstract: An oxygen-containing gas supply passage and an oxygen-containing gas discharge passage extend through a set of diagonal positions of a first metal separator, and a fuel gas supply passage and a fuel gas discharge passage extend through the other set of diagonal positions of the first metal separator. A fuel gas flow field is connected to the fuel gas supply passage through an inlet buffer at an upper position, and connected to the fuel gas discharge passage through an outlet buffer at a lower position. The inlet buffer includes a first inlet buffer area adjacent to the fuel gas supply passage and a second inlet buffer area adjacent to the fuel gas flow field. Grooves of the first inlet buffer area are deeper than grooves of the second inlet buffer area in the stacking direction.

Abstract: An arbiter circuit includes a priority coefficient calculating unit, a priority coefficient comparator an acceptance determining unit, and a priority determining unit. The priority coefficient calculating unit calculates for each request an arbitration priority coefficient based on a priority level set for each request by requesters. The priority coefficient comparator compares arbitration priority coefficients calculated for the requesters by the priority coefficient calculating unit. The acceptance determining unit determines whether to accept the requests based on the comparison result by the priority coefficient comparator. When the arbitration priority coefficient calculated by the priority coefficient calculating unit is equal between two or more requests, the priority determining unit determines a priority order for accepting the requests.

Abstract: A fuel cell having a structure capable of certainly supplying a gas by making effective use of a limited space while ensuring the portability of the fuel cell is provided. The fuel cell includes two generators, a fuel supply portion, and two planar current collectors. Each of the generators has a proton conductor film, and a planar hydrogen side electrode and a planar oxygen side electrode disposed with the proton conductor film held therebetween. The fuel supply portion is adapted to supply a fuel to the hydrogen side electrodes of the generators. The planar current collectors, which are disposed in close-contact with the oxygen side electrodes of the generators, have gas transmission portions such as opening portions allowing the oxygen side electrodes to be opened to atmosphere. Since the oxygen side electrodes are opened to atmosphere, oxygen can be supplied to the generators without lowering a partial pressure of oxygen in air.
