Abstract: A detector device is presented for use in a surface probing system. The detector device comprises an integral semiconductor structure configured to define a cantilever and tip probe assembly, comprising at least one tip formed on the cantilever, wherein an apex portion of said at least one tip is configured as an apertured photodetector comprising a layered structure formed with an aperture of subwavelength dimensions and defining at least one depletion region and an electrical circuit, said subwavelength aperture allowing collection of evanescent waves created at a surface region and interaction of collected evanescent waves with the at least one depletion region thereby causing direct conversion of the collected evanescent waves into electric signals being read by the electrical circuit within said tip apex portion, said integral semiconductor structure being thereby capable of concurrently monitoring topographic and optical properties of the surface being scanned by the tip.

The artificial neuron unit comprises a modal mixing unit, such as multimode optical fiber, configured for receiving input light and applying selected mixing to light components of two or more modes within the input light and for providing exit light, and a filtering unit configured for applying preselected filter onto said exit light for selecting one or more modes of the exit light thereby providing output light of the artificial neuron unit.

Abstract: A system and method monitoring conditions of a subject's body including a control unit receiving image data and data indicative of an external stimulation applied to the body during collection of the image data therefrom, a memory utility, and a processor utility. The image data is indicative of a sequence of speckle patterns generated by the body according to a certain sampling time pattern. The processor utility performs processing the image data utilizing the data indicative of the applied external field(s), including determining a spatial correlation function between successive speckle patterns in the sequence, and determining a time varying spatial correlation function in the form of a time-varying function of a feature of the correlation function indicative of a change of the speckle pattern over time; selecting a parameter of the time-varying spatial correlation function, and applying a model to the parameter to determine a corresponding body condition; and generating output data indicative of the corresponding body condition.

Abstract: A system and method are presented for use in monitoring one or more conditions of a subject's body. The system includes a control unit which includes an input port for receiving image data, a memory utility, and a processor utility. The image data is indicative of data measured by a pixel detector array and is in the form of a sequence of speckle patterns generated by a portion of the subject's body in response to illumination thereof by coherent light according to a certain sampling time pattern. The memory utility stores one or more predetermined models, the model comprising data indicative of a relation between one or more measurable parameters and one or more conditions of the subject's body. The processor utility is configured and operable for processing the image data to determine one or more corresponding body conditions; and generating output data indicative of the corresponding body conditions.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for improving the resolution of a spectrometer configured to provide a frequency spectrum of a radiation incoming from a sample. The system comprises an optical medium configured so that the radiation incoming from the sample be transferred through the optical medium, the optical medium having a predetermined tunable spectral transmission curve; an operating unit connectable to the optical medium and configured to operate the optical medium so as to shift the spectral transmission curve of the optical medium over a predetermined spectral range; and a processing unit connectable to the spectrometer and configured to process a set of shifted frequency spectra provided by the spectrometer and obtainable by transferring the radiation incoming from the sample through the optical medium while shifting the spectral transmission curve of the optical medium so as to obtain a super resolved frequency spectrum of improved spectral resolution.
