Abstract: Provided is a novel synthetic crystalline borongermanosilicate molecular sieve material, designated boron SSZ-113. The boron SSZ-113 can be synthesized using 1,3 bis(2,3-dimethyl-1H-imidazolium) propane dications as a structure directing agent. The boron SSZ-113 may be used in organic compound conversion reactions and/or sorptive processes, and in particular, in reforming reactions.

Abstract: A method of increasing hydrophobicity of a molecular sieve is provided. The method includes: (a) providing a metallosilicate molecular sieve having a framework consisting of oxides of silicon (Si) and a metal (M), wherein M is boron or zinc; (b) contacting the metallosilicate molecular sieve with a liquid aqueous system, thereby obtaining a demetallated molecular sieve having silanol nests and empty framework sites; and (c) thermally treating the demetallated molecular sieve, thereby obtaining a thermally-treated molecular sieve, wherein the thermally-treated molecular sieve (i) retains the three-dimensional framework structure of the metallosilicate molecular sieve and (ii) has a higher Si/M molar ratio as compared to the metallosilicate molecular sieve.

Abstract: Provided herein are hydrocarbon mixtures with controlled structure characteristics that address the performance requirements for finished lubricants driven by the stricter environmental and fuel economy regulations. The branching characteristics of the hydrocarbon molecules are controlled to provide a composition that has a unique and superior viscosity-temperature relationship and Noack volatility. An important aspect of the present invention relates to a saturated hydrocarbon mixture with at least 80% of the molecules having an even carbon number, with the branching characteristic of BP/BI in the range≥−0.6037 (Internal alkyl branching)+2.0, where on average at least 0.3 to 1.5 of the internal methyl branches are located more than 4 carbons away from the terminal carbon when analyzed by carbon NMR. The saturated hydrocarbon mixture with such unique branching structure consistently exhibits a stand out performance in the cold crank simulated viscosity (CCS) vs Noack volatility relationship, which allows for the formulation of lower viscosity engine oils with improved fuel economies.

Abstract: A hydroconversion process comprises contacting a feedstock comprising renewable materials under hydroprocessing conditions with a promoted catalyst selected from a self-supported catalyst, a supported catalyst and combinations thereof, wherein the reaction conditions can be tailored to directly convert the renewable feedstock to the desired product(s) including fatty alcohols, esters, normal paraffins, or combinations thereof. The catalyst comprising at least a Group VIB metal selected from molybdenum and tungsten, a Group VIII metal selected from cobalt and nickel to convert the feedstock into any of fatty alcohols, esters, and normal paraffins. In some embodiments, the process further comprising additional steps to generate various desirable products, including α-olefins (or PAO, by dehydrating the fatty alcohol products), lubricants and bright stocks (from the oligomerizing of the PAO), and Group 3 lubricants (from co-oligomerizing of the PAO with some short chain olefins).
