    Abstract: A driver monitoring system for a vehicle includes a camera and an ECU. The camera is disposed at an interior of the vehicle so as to view the face of a driver of the vehicle. The camera captures image data and the captured image data includes image data representative of the face of the driver. The ECU includes electronic circuitry and associated software, with the electronic circuitry including an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera. The ECU, responsive to processing by the image processor of image data captured by the camera, determines a heart rate of the driver.

    Abstract: A vehicular camera for a vehicular vision system includes a housing having a front housing portion and a rear housing portion, with the front housing portion including a lens barrel for accommodating a lens. A heating device is disposed at an outermost lens element of the lens. The heating device includes a pair of electrically conductive elements that are routed along the lens barrel for electrical connection to circuitry at a printed circuit board. An outer end of each of the electrically conductive elements is disposed at and in contact with a heating element at and in contact with the inner surface of the outermost lens element. When powered, the heating element heats the outermost lens element to evaporate moisture or condensation thereat. The camera is configured to be disposed at an exterior portion of a vehicle so as to have a field of view exterior of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera having a housing and a lens barrel including a lens. The camera is configured to be disposed at an exterior portion of a vehicle so as to have a field of view exterior of the vehicle. An image processor is operable to process frames of image data captured by the camera. A heating device is disposed at or near the lens and is activated to initially heat the lens responsive to determination, via processing by the image processor of a frame of captured image data, of a threshold degree of lens occlusion at the lens. The heating device is (i) deactivated responsive to determination that the determined lens occlusion is not water or moisture, or (ii) further powered to increase the heating function responsive to determination that the determined occlusion is water or moisture.

    Abstract: A method for determining presence of water droplets at an outer side of a vehicle windshield includes equipping a vehicle with a vehicular vision system having a camera disposed behind an inner side of the vehicle windshield so as to view exterior of the vehicle through the windshield. The camera includes a primary lens, a secondary lens and an imager, which has a primary sensing area and a secondary sensing area. Image data representative of images focused at the imager by the primary lens is captured at the primary sensing area of the imager. Image data representative of images focused at the imager by the secondary lens is captured at the secondary sensing area of the imager. Responsive to processing at the control of image data captured by the imager at the secondary sensing area, presence of water droplets at the outer side of the windshield of the equipped vehicle.

    Abstract: A camera module for a vehicular vision system includes a metal front housing, a lens holder and a metal rear housing. The front housing houses a printed circuit board having an imager disposed thereat. The lens holder is attached at a front portion of the housing so that a lens assembly is optically aligned with the imager. The rear housing attaches at a rear portion of the front housing and includes a connecting element for electrically connecting to circuitry at the printed circuit board when the rear housing is attached at the rear portion of the front housing. An outer portion of the connecting element is disposed in a connector portion of the rear housing so as to be electrically connectable to electrically conductive elements of a vehicle connector when the camera module is disposed at the vehicle and the vehicle connector is connected to the connector portion.

    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a plurality of cameras mounted at the vehicle and having respective fields of view exterior of the vehicle. The cameras include a video output for transmitting a stream of video to a control via a serial data bus linking the respective camera to the control. The control includes a serial data interface for communication with at least one electronic device of the vehicle. The control sends instructions to the cameras via the respective serial data bus linking the camera to the control. The control activates one of the cameras and deactivates at least one other of the cameras responsive to (i) a user input and/or (ii) a driving condition. Video images derived at least in part from image data captured by the activated camera are displayed at a video display screen of the vehicle for viewing by a driver of the vehicle.

    Abstract: A method for displaying video images includes providing a plurality of cameras and an electronic control unit at the vehicle. One of the cameras functions as a master camera and other cameras function as slave cameras. During a forward driving maneuver of the vehicle, the forward viewing camera functions as the master camera and at least the driver-side sideward viewing and passenger-side sideward viewing cameras function as slave cameras, during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle, the rearward viewing camera functions as the master camera and at least the driver-side sideward viewing and passenger-side sideward viewing cameras function as slave cameras. Exposure, gain and white balance parameters of the master camera are used at least by the master camera and the slave cameras. A composite image is displayed, with adjacent image sections of the composite image appearing uniform in brightness and/or color at the borders of the image sections.

    Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view exterior of the vehicle. The camera captures image data and outputs a low voltage differential signal (LVDS). The system includes an LVDS repeater that receives the LVDS signal output by the camera and outputs at least two LVDS outputs to respective receivers. Each of the at least two LVDS outputs is representative of the LVDS signal output by the camera. The receivers include a receiver of respective ones of at least two devices selected from the group consisting of (i) a vehicle head unit, (ii) a display device, (iii) an electronic control unit of the vehicle and (iv) an image processor for a driver assistance function.
