    Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to video coding and particularly to methods and systems for boundary padding for motion compensation. For example, a motion vector for a motion compensation padded block in a motion compensation padding area of a picture in a video may be determined from scanning a set of neighboring boundary blocks of the picture and/or a set of co-located temporal blocks of the boundary blocks. The motion compensation padded block may be padded according to the motion vector and used for motion compensation of other pictures in the video.

    Abstract: This disclosure relates to secondary transform of video blocks with adaptive kernel options. For example, a method for decoding a video block in a video stream is disclosed. The method may include comprising parsing and processing the video stream to generate: a set of secondary transform coefficients associated with the video block; an intra prediction mode associated with the video block; and a kernel index indicating a secondary transform kernel among a group of secondary transform kernels. The method may further include identifying the group of secondary transform kernels based on the intra prediction mode; and performing an inverse secondary transform of the set of secondary transform coefficients to generate primary transform coefficients of the video block based on the secondary transform kernel among the group of secondary transform kernels identified by the kernel index. The quantity of kernels in the group of secondary transform kernels depends on at least one of: the intra prediction mode associated with the video block; a size of the video block; or a primary transform type associated with the video block.

A first offset value is determined in a first mapping table and associated with a first reference line of the plurality of reference lines that is adjacent to the current block.     Abstract: An example method of video decoding includes receiving a video bitstream that comprises a plurality of blocks including a current chroma block. When less than a threshold number of neighboring chroma blocks of a current chroma block use a chroma-from-luma (CfL) mode, a first context is selected as an entropy decoding context for a first flag. When at least the threshold number of neighboring chroma blocks use the CfL mode, a second context is selected as the entropy decoding context for the first flag. The method also includes entropy decoding the first flag from the video bitstream using the entropy decoding context, where the first flag indicates whether the CfL mode is enabled for the current chroma block, and decoding the current chroma block according to a value of the first flag.

    Abstract: The disclosure includes methods and apparatuses that includes processing circuitry that receives, from a bitstream comprising a current block in a picture, coding information of the bitstream indicating that the current block is coded in an angular intra prediction mode with an intra interpolation filter. The processing circuitry applies each of a predefined set of intra interpolation filters to neighboring reconstructed samples within N adjacent lines from a boundary of the current block. The processing circuitry selects one intra interpolation filter from the predefined set of intra interpolation filters based a prediction error associated with the each of the predefined set of intra interpolation filters and predicts a sample in the current block using the angular intra prediction mode using the selected one intra interpolation filter.     Abstract: The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for coding video. In one aspect, a video bitstream includes a current coding block of an image frame and a syntax element for a cross-component intra prediction mode. A first chroma sample is generated by combining a first luma sample co-located with the first chroma sample and its associated neighboring luma samples using a plurality of weighing factors. The method includes extracting at least one of weighing factors from the video bitstream, and deriving the at least another weighing factor. The method further includes combining the first luma sample and the neighboring luma samples based on the at least one weighing factor that is signaled in the video bitstream and the at least another weighing factor that is not signaled in the video bitstream to generate the first chroma sample, which is applied to reconstruct the current coding block.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video encoding/decoding. In some examples, an apparatus for video decoding includes receiving circuitry and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry receives coded information of a current block in a current picture from a coded video bitstream, the coded information is indicative of applying local illumination compensation (LIC) on the current block according to a reference block in a reference picture. The processing circuitry constructs a parameter set list for the LIC, the parameter set list comprising a plurality of parameter sets for the LIC, and determines a selected parameter set from the parameter set list according to an index that is decoded from the coded video bitstream. The processing circuitry performs the LIC on the current block based on the selected parameter set to generate compensated samples of the current block according to the reference block in the reference picture.
