Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are provided for automatically determining which type of resuscitation treatment is most appropriate for a patient. Methods are provided that include the following. One or more time domain signal measurements are transformed into frequency domain data representative of a frequency content of the one or more time domain signal measurements. The frequency domain data is processed to identify peaks. For each of the peaks, for each of multiple points in time, multiple parameters of the peak are determined. Based on the multiple parameters of the peaks for each of the multiple points in time, a trajectory is determined. The determined trajectory is analyzed in determining a recommended type of resuscitation treatment. An output indication is provided of the recommended type of resuscitation treatment.

Abstract: A cardiac monitoring and treatment system includes a controller, a first wearable portion, and a second wearable portion separate from the first wearable portion. The first wearable portion includes an elongated strap configured to encircle a thoracic region of a patient, a plurality of ECG sensing electrodes disposed about the elongated strap, one or more receiving ports configured to receive one or more additional components including a treatment electrode and/or an additional sensor, and a plurality of conductive wires configured to couple the plurality of ECG sensing electrodes and the one or more receiving ports with the controller. The second wearable portion is configured to be worn over at least one shoulder of the patient and includes a wearable substrate, one or more treatment electrodes disposed on the wearable substrate, and at least one conductive wire configured to releasably connect the one or more treatment electrodes to the controller.

Abstract: A system for clinical decision support for a caregiver during a clinical encounter involving respiratory distress includes a defibrillator-patient monitor including sensors configured to gather patient physiological data, a user interface device, a memory, and a processor communicatively coupled to the defibrillator-patient monitor, the memory, and the user interface device and configured to control the user interface device to display diagnosis and treatment pathways (DTPs) including a respiratory distress DTP, receive a user selection of the respiratory distress DTP, control the user interface device to provide at least a portion of the physiological data in response to the user selection of the respiratory distress DTP, provide a suggested respiratory distress diagnosis at the user interface device based on the physiological data and the user selection of the respiratory distress DTP, and provide a respiratory distress treatment protocol at the user interface device based on the suggested respiratory distress diagnosis.

Abstract: A system for assisting a rescuer with treatment of a patient is described. An example system includes a mobile computing device that includes a user interface and a processor coupled to memory. The processor is configured to cause the user interface to prompt the rescuer to select a proficiency level from among multiple proficiency levels including a basic proficiency level and at least one non-basic proficiency level. The basic proficiency level includes basic resuscitation instructions for the rescuer. The system is further configured to receive an input from the rescuer of the selected proficiency level. The system provides, if the rescuer selects the basic proficiency level, the basic resuscitation instructions to the rescuer, and provides, if the rescuer selects the at least one non-basic proficiency level, non-basic instructions to the rescuer. The system transmits signals to control a defibrillator according to the selected proficiency level.

Abstract: A system for improving cardiac output of a patient suffering from pulseless electrical activity or shock and yet displays myocardial wall motion including: a sensor to detect myocardial activity to determine the presence of residual left ventricular pump function having a contraction or ejection phase and a filling or relaxation phase, a device to prompt the application of or apply a compressive force repeatedly applied to the chest based on the sensed myocardial activity such that the compressive force is applied during at least some of the ejection phases and is ceased during at least some of the relaxation phases to permit residual cardiac filling, thereby enhancing cardiac output and organ perfusion.

Abstract: An external defibrillator system for assisting manual delivery of chest compressions and ventilations to a patient by a rescuer as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) includes a speaker, and a processor, memory, and associated circuitry coupled to the speaker. The processor is configured to initiate prompting for the chest compressions and the ventilations manually delivered to the patient by the rescuer as CPR, control the speaker to generate first auditory cues for the chest compressions, and control the speaker to generate second auditory cues for the ventilations with a different sound than the first auditory cues for the chest compressions. The first auditory cues and the second auditory cues assist the rescuer in timing the delivery of the chest compressions and the ventilations.

The central device may include software and hardware configured to feed the medical data to the mobile devices via multiple role-based data feeds. The patient data display screen is configured to display the medical data. Each mobile device may identify an associated type of medical data by displaying a screen enabling a caregiver to select the associated type of medical data based on their role, or may receive a respective role-based data feed from the central device. Each mobile device is configured to display the received medical data.

The tilt angle may be a target tilt angle and the patient support structure may further include a processor configured to determine the target tilt angle based on at least one of sensor input and user input.

Abstract: A defibrillator for guiding a rescuer based on a probability of defibrillation success includes at least one output device and a processor and associated memory, the processor being configured to receive at least two ECG signals over time for a cardiac arrest victim, the at least two ECG signals including at least a first ECG signal at a first point in time and a second ECG signal at a second point in time, process the at least two ECG signals to determine at least two parameters related to the at least two ECG signals, the at least two parameters forming a sequence of parameter sets, analyze a trajectory of the sequence of parameter sets, determine the probability of defibrillation success based on the analysis of the trajectory, and control the at least one output device to provide one or more caregiver prompts based on the probability of defibrillation success.
