    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a power control circuit and a timing control circuit that supplies a timing signal to a level shifter circuit. In response to reception of a control signal used to transition from a display mode to a pause mode from a host controller, the timing control circuit causes the level shifter circuit to stop outputting a gate signal by transmitting a pause signal to the power control circuit and stopping supplying the timing signal to the level shifter circuit. In response to reception of the pause signal, the power control circuit stops supplying at least part of power to be supplied to the display panel and the level shifter circuit while keeping supplying power to the timing control circuit.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a reflective layer, a first electrode and a second electrode configured to generate a transverse electrical field in the liquid crystal layer, and a first horizontal alignment film. An electrode, of the first electrode and the second electrode, disposed on a side of the liquid crystal layer includes a plurality of belt-shaped portions and a slit positioned between two adjacent belt-shaped portions of the plurality of belt-shaped portions, the liquid crystal layer is constituted by a liquid crystal material including a liquid crystal molecule, the liquid crystal material is a positive type. The second substrate includes a second horizontal alignment film being in contact with the liquid crystal layer, and the liquid crystal layer takes a twist alignment when no voltage is applied.

    Abstract: A phased array antenna with high yield and excellent transmission and reception performance is provided. The phased array antenna includes a printed circuit board 10 including a plurality of first terminals, a TFT substrate 50 including a plurality of second terminals and being arranged to face the printed circuit board 10, and a plurality of conductors 30 connecting the first terminals and the second terminals, respectively. The printed circuit board includes a plurality of transmission/reception electrodes 12, and beamforming ICs 20 receiving control signals from the TFT substrate via the first terminals and adjusting phases of signals transmitted and received by transmission/reception electrodes according to the control signals. The TFT substrate includes a plurality of control circuits 80 that include TFTs and generate control signals for controlling the beamforming ICs, and a planarization multilayer 70 that covers the plurality of control circuits, wherein a terrace 70t is provided on a side face of the planarization multilayer.

    Abstract: Provided is an optical element including, sequentially from a viewing surface side toward a back surface side: a first polarizer; a negative C plate; a phase difference layer; and a second polarizer. A transmission axis of the first polarizer is parallel to a transmission axis of the second polarizer. The phase difference layer contains anisotropic molecules. In the phase difference layer, a tilt angle of the anisotropic molecules on a viewing surface side in the phase difference layer and a tilt angle of the anisotropic molecules on a back surface side in the phase difference layer are the same as each other and greater than 0°. A slow axis of the phase difference layer, in a case of lying in a tilt direction of the anisotropic molecules, is parallel to or perpendicular to the transmission axis of the first polarizer.

    Abstract: A backlight apparatus includes an LED substrate having a principal surface over which a plurality of light-emitting elements that emit excitation light are arrayed, a phosphor layer containing a phosphor that emits fluorescence upon receiving the excitation light, a wavelength-selective reflecting layer disposed between the phosphor layer and the LED substrate, and a louver film disposed between the wavelength-selective reflecting layer and the LED substrate and having a plurality of louvers. The wavelength-selective reflecting layer has different transmittances according to wavelengths and/or angles of incidence of light falling thereon. The louver film blocks the fluorescence and the excitation light falling thereon at an angle greater than or equal to a first angle and smaller than 90 degrees with respect to a direction normal to a film surface of the louver film.
