Abstract: In general, the present disclosure is directed to a hand-held surface cleaning device that includes a relatively compact form-factor to allow users to store the same in a nearby location (e.g., in a drawer, in an associated charging dock, on a table top) for easy access to perform relatively small cleaning tasks that would otherwise require retrieving a full-size vacuum from storage. A hand-held surface cleaning device consistent with aspects of the present disclosure includes a body (or body portion) with a motor, power source and dust cup disposed therein. The body portion also functions as a handgrip to allow the hand-held surface cleaning device to be operated by one hand, for example.

Abstract: An automated cleaning device includes a chassis, a controller operably connected to a drive assembly and configured to move the chassis within an area to be cleaned in repeated cleaning cycles, a cleaning unit carried by the chassis, a sensor configured to detect material drawn into the cleaning unit and provide a debris signal corresponding to an amount of material drawn into the cleaning unit, the controller being operably connected to the sensor and configured to generate a high-material indicator in response to the debris signal exceeding a predetermined debris threshold, and determining whether the autonomous cleaner is in a high traffic area when the chassis moves within the area to be cleaned based on locations of high-material indicators.

The docking structure includes a horizontal surface and at least two electrical charging contacts, each of the electrical charging contacts having a contact surface positioned above the horizontal surface. The platform includes a raised rear surface having a front portion and a rear portion, two wheel wells located in the front portion of the raised rear surface of the platform, and a plurality of raised surface features forward of the raised rear surface configured to support an underside portion of the mobile cleaning robot.

Abstract: A method for energy management in a robotic device includes providing a base station for mating with the robotic device, determining a quantity of energy stored in an energy storage unit of the robotic device, and performing a predetermined task based at least in part on the quantity of energy stored. Also disclosed are systems for emitting avoidance signals to prevent inadvertent contact between the robot and the base station, and systems for emitting homing signals to allow the robotic device to accurately dock with the base station.

Abstract: An automatic cleaning device includes a main body and a sensor. The main body includes a charging unit and a battery unit. The charging unit is arranged on a side of the main body. The automatic cleaning device is configured to decide whether to enter an auto charging mode, so as to sequentially perform a walking-along-the-wall operation and a reset charging operation. During the walking-along-the-wall operation of the automatic cleaning device, when the sensor senses a signal, the automatic cleaning device stops the walking-along-the-wall operation, and performs the reset charging operation after the main body turns a preset angle. During the reset charging operation of the automatic cleaning device, after the main body moves to the charging base, whether the charging unit contacts a charging base is determined, so as to charge the battery unit.

Abstract: A control method of an autonomous mobile robot comprises: receiving a dock signal and executing a control program according to the dock signal. The control program includes detecting a first guiding signal, a second guiding signal and a third guiding signal transmitted by the charging station via the first sensing unit, the second sensing unit and the third sensing unit, sensing a measured distance between the autonomous mobile robot and the charging station when the second guiding signal is detected by the second sensing unit, and the autonomous mobile robot moves toward the charging station or away from the charging station according to the measured distance and a first threshold, and re-executing the control program.
