Abstract:
Devices and methods are provided that permit efficient and selective separation of liquid biological specimens into at least two constituent components to facilitate subsequent quantitative and qualitative analysis on at least one analyte of interest in at least one of the components. The devices generally include one or more sample deposition regions supported on a base. Each sample deposition region includes a separation membrane for separating the liquid biological specimen into two different fractions. The first fraction is trapped by the separation membrane while the second fraction passes through the separation membrane and into a respective collection membrane. The separation and collection membranes are easily separable from the devices and can be utilized for further processing and analysis.
Abstract:
A filter manifold includes a housing and a shuttle. The shuttle is disposed within the housing such that the shuttle is movable relative to the housing between a plug position and a flow position along an axial direction. The shuttle is also coupled to the housing such that the shuttle is non-rotatable relative to the housing about the axial direction. A spring is disposed within the housing. The spring is connected to the shuttle such that the tension spring urges the shuttle towards the plug position. The shuttle is positioned at the flow position of the shuttle when a filter cartridge is coupled to the filter manifold.
Abstract:
A filter assembly includes a filter head and filter cartridge. The filter cartridge includes a housing and element. The housing includes a can with an open mouth. An interface ring is secured to the can adjacent to the open mouth. The outer ring surface is against the inner wall of the can. The ring wall is angled between the first and second ends greater than one degree and less than 6 degrees. Methods of filtering and making the housing are provided.
Abstract:
A purification column is provided in which fluid is purified by flow through a purifying component. The column includes an annular wall defining a bore which, in use, contains the purifying component. The column further includes an inlet port to the bore comprising a first aperture through the annular wall, the inlet port being adjacent one end of the column. The column further includes an outlet port from the bore comprising a second aperture through the annular wall, the outlet port being adjacent the same end of the column as the inlet port. The column further includes a flow guidance device within the bore and removably connected to the inlet and outlet ports for guiding the fluid to the purifying component from the inlet port and for guiding the fluid from the purifying component to the outlet port. The flow guidance device maintains separation of the fluid flows to and from the purifying component.
Abstract:
Flexible housing filters for filtration of fluids and methods of making such filters are disclosed. The filters may include one or more peripheral seals in the flexible housing.
Abstract:
A filter assembly includes a canister housing closable by a lid and containing a removable and replaceable filter element cartridge. The lid is part of the filter element cartridge and a single unitary component therewith, such that removal of the filter element cartridge also removes the lid, and replacement of the filter element cartridge also replaces the lid.
Abstract:
A fluid filtration system includes a filter receiver located in a fluid reservoir housing and a replaceable filter module adapted to mount in the filter receiver. Fluid to be filtered is exposed to a filter media included in the filter module and mounted in a filter chamber provided in the filter receiver. The filtered fluid is discharged into a fluid reservoir located in the fluid reservoir housing and outside the filter receiver. Fluid is then pumped from the fluid reservoir to a fluid user and fluid discharged from the filter user is conducted to the filter chamber for filtration in the filter media.

Abstract:
A snap-together, all-plastic filter assembly for filtering fluids includes a generally cylindrical injection molded plastic outer shell which has a closed base and an open opposite end and which defines a hollow interior which receives a filtering element and an integral injection molded plastic endplate/centertube member. The outer shell is injection molded with a pair of concentric, generally cylindrical, inner annular walls which are integral with the closed based and extend part way toward the open end of the outer shell. The filtering element which has a hollow interior fits down within the outermost of the two concentric annular walls and the centertube of the endplate/centertube member extends through the center of the filtering element and snaps in place by means of snap-fit projections which snap into snap-fit pockets disposed within the inner most of the two concentric annular walls. The filter assembly is designed as a spin-on filter and is threadedly engaged and positioned onto a mounting base thereby completing the fluid flow path. In related embodiments the filtering element is preassembled to the endplate/centertube member as a replaceable cartridge.
