    Abstract: A filter may include a filter housing having a filter housing crucible and a filter housing cover. A ring filter element may be arranged in the filter housing and have an axially projecting pin on a lower end disc. The pin may be configured to be received by a channel on the filter housing crucible side when the filter device is assembled. A tube-shaped dome may be arranged on the filter housing crucible and engage an inner chamber of the ring filter element and a guide contour may be arranged on a free end of the tube-shaped dome and interact with a guide element arranged on the ring filter element.

    Abstract: A modular filter element frame (10) and a filter element frame assembly (100, 150) are disclosed. The filter element frame (10) has an elongate body (12) with a central bore (14) extending axially through the body. In cross-section the body has at least three smooth-ended lobes (16) that extend radially therefrom. The lobes are angularly spaced about the central bore such that a longitudinally extending channel (18) is formed along the body between adjacent lobes. Each channel has a plurality of longitudinally spaced apertures (20) extending into the central bore. Axially outer ends (24, 28) of the body are adapted to enable axial stacking thereof with like modular filter element frames to cooperatively form a filter element frame assembly (100, 150) with a required axial length. The assembly may receive a filter sleeve such that the sleeve extends at least partially along an outer periphery thereof.

    Abstract: A filter assembly for fluid filtration having a push-activated lock and release mechanism. A push filter design activates a floating key lock upon insertion and extraction, where the filter key may be used simultaneously as a lock and as an identifier for particular filter attributes. The filter base may be situated inline, and in fluid communication, with influent and effluent piping, such as within a refrigerator. The filter housing assembly may be attached to, and removed from, the filter base by a push-actuated release. Upon insertion, the filter key shifts the filter lock longitudinally to receive interlocking segments. Upon extraction, the same axial push shifts the filter lock further to align the interlocking fingers within gaps that allow for easy extraction. The specific key lock design allows a user to identify and match certain filter configurations received by the mechanical support, and reject other filter configurations.

    Abstract: A filter element including a canister, media, and a spinning disc element is provided. The canister circumscribes a central axis. A tap plate is at an end of the canister having a central threaded opening along the central axis of the canister. The tap plate includes a first outer opening radially spaced between the central opening and a periphery of the tap plate. The disc element is supported for rotation on the tap plate. A first keyed protrusion projects outwardly from the disc element. The keyed protrusion defines a first flow opening. The spinning disc element is rotatable about the central axis. The first outer opening is in fluid communication with the first opening of the first keyed protrusion such that fluid can into or out of the canister. Filter systems including a filter head to which the filter element may be mounted are also provided.

    Abstract: An interconnection scheme between a filter cartridge and its corresponding manifold whereby a magnetic shear force is introduced to remove a blocking mechanism that would otherwise prohibit attachment. The magnetic shear force may also be employed to activate or deactivate a switch or valve, or engage or disengage an engagement mechanism relative to other components upon interconnection. The magnetic shear force is generated by complementary correlated magnet structures moved into close proximity to one another. The interconnection scheme may be a linear or rotational attachment of the filter cartridge with respect to the manifold. A valve assembly utilizing magnetic shear force may be employed to activate a bypass action between a manifold ingress port and egress port, thereby allowing water to flow when a filter cartridge is removed from the manifold and directing water to the filter cartridge when the valve assembly is activated.
