Abstract: A power receiving device includes a power receiving antenna that receives AC power from a power transmitting antenna, a rectifier circuit that converts the AC power into DC power, a detection circuit that detects the DC power, a load driven by the DC power, a battery that charges the DC power, a switching circuit that provides i) connection and disconnection between the rectifier circuit and the load and ii) connection and disconnection between the load and the battery, and a control circuit that controls the power receiving device. The control circuit controls the switching circuit to disconnect the rectifier circuit from the load and connect the load to the battery if the DC power is less than or equal to a power threshold value, and drive the load by the DC power charged in the battery.

Abstract: A novel electromagnetic actuator designed to operate at system resonance, used in the construction of a unique vehicle system, is presented herein. An exemplary embodiment of the vehicle system is based on an electromagnetic actuator coupled to a plurality of actuating members of a micro aerial vehicle. Attributes of this type of actuation offer several enhancements over traditional approaches. The unique use of an electromagnetic actuator lends itself to a near unlimited number of coil cross-sectional designs that can be optimized to meet performance requirements while maintaining minimal costs of fabrication.

Abstract: An electrical system for a vehicle having an internal combustion engine provided with a start/stop system includes a primary battery connectible to an engine starter motor, an alternator and an electrical load in parallel with one another and selectively connectible in parallel with the primary battery via a first switch, and a third source of electrical energy selectively connectible in parallel with the alternator via a second switch. A DC/DC converter may be arranged in parallel with the alternator for selectively charging the third source of electrical energy via the second switch. A secondary battery may be arranged in parallel with the alternator.

Abstract: A structure of mounting a power controller in a vehicle, the power controller to be mounted in a front compartment of the vehicle: includes a connector attached to a back portion of a housing of the power controller; a cowl panel positioned behind the connector; and a pair of protrusions provided on the housing. Each of the pair of protrusions is arranged on a corresponding lateral side of the connector. Back ends of the protrusions are positioned on a back side with respect to a back end of the connector. A distance from the back end of one protrusion of the pair of protrusions to the cowl panel is shorter than a distance from the back end of the other protrusion to the cowl panel, the one protrusion being closer to a center line in a width direction of the vehicle than the other protrusion is.

Abstract: A vehicle-side circuit for supplying power in an electrically driven vehicle is provided. The power circuit includes an external AC voltage terminal; at least one DC/AC converter having an AC voltage side; and an electrical machine having a plurality of windings, each of which has a first tapping. The electrical machine is connected to the AC voltage side of the DC/AC converter. A switching device is connected to the plurality of windings and to a signal shaping filter having a plurality of first capacitors. The signal shaping filter is connected between the DC/AC converter and an external AC terminal. The switching device may interconnect the windings within the electrical machine or may connect the first tappings of the plurality of windings within the signal shaping filter to the plurality of first capacitors to form an at least third-order low-pass filter.

Abstract: A battery management system (BMS) controls lithium battery access on a utility vehicle. The BMS includes a battery interface that couples with a lithium battery, a load interface that couples with a set of loads of the utility vehicle, and control circuitry coupled with the battery interface and the load interface. The control circuitry mechanically disconnects the battery interface from the load interface in response to a sleep event. Additionally, after the battery interface is mechanically disconnected from the load interface, the control circuitry mechanically reconnects the battery interface to the load interface in response to a wakeup event. Furthermore, after the battery interface is mechanically reconnected to the load interface, the control circuitry maintains connection between the battery interface and the load interface to convey power from the lithium battery to the set of loads of the utility vehicle through the battery interface and the load interface.

Abstract: An automotive battery system that includes a lead-acid battery electrically coupled to a first bus, in which the lead-acid battery supplies electrical power to a starter via the first bus to cold crank an internal combustion engine of a vehicle; a lithium-ion battery electrically coupled to a second bus, in which the lithium-ion battery captures and stores electrical energy generated by a regenerative braking system when the vehicle brakes and supplies electrical power to the second bus using the electrical energy captured from the regenerative braking system such that a first portion of the second electrical power is supplied to an electrical system; and a DC/DC converter electrically coupled between the first bus and the second bus, in which the DC/DC converter controls supply of a second portion of the second electrical power to charge the lead-acid battery.

Abstract: A vehicle includes an electrical storage device, an auxiliary load, a charger configured to charge the electrical storage device with power supplied from a power supply outside the vehicle, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to create an actuation schedule of the auxiliary load during charging of the electrical storage device, before initiation of the charging. The electronic control unit is configured to learn charging power of the electrical storage device for each actuation pattern of the auxiliary load during the charging. The electronic control unit is configured to estimate a required time period for the charging based on a learned value of the charging power, an execution time period of each of the actuation patterns, and a total charging power amount of the electrical storage device. The electronic control unit sets initiation time of the charging in accordance with the estimated required time period.
