Abstract: A drive unit includes a first electric motor, a fluid coupling, a pump, a second electric motor, and a controller. The first electric motor is configured to drive a drive wheel. The fluid coupling is configured such that a torque outputted from the first electric motor is inputted thereto. The pump is configured to supply a working fluid to an interior of the fluid coupling. The second electric motor is configured to drive the pump. The controller controls the second electric motor based on at least one of an input/output rotational ratio of the fluid coupling, a temperature of the working fluid in the interior of the fluid coupling, or an amount of the working fluid in the interior of the fluid coupling.

Abstract: A device for controlling and supplying energy to components in vehicles, in particular utility vehicles, includes at least one support element which is paired with at least one first actuator component, and a first energy storage device which is mounted on the support element and which is designed to supply energy to the first actuator component. Alternatively or in addition to the second controller, a second energy storage device can be mounted on the support element. The second energy storage device is designed to supply energy to the second actuator component.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a vehicle cooling system for cooling a cabin and a battery system, each having a respective target operating range. The cooling system is configured to select among a cabin-only mode, battery-only mode, or a hybrid cooling mode for cooling the cabin and the battery system. In the hybrid mode, the system determines a desired pressure at an inlet of a compressor corresponding to a suction pressure of the compressor, to avoid cooling interruptions. The system generates a control signal based on the desired suction pressure, and applies the control signal to the compressor. Generating the control signal may include generating a feedforward signal the desired suction pressure, generating a feedback signal based on the suction pressure, or a combination thereof. For example, the use of hybrid mode based on suction pressure allows smoother response to targets with reduced delays in response in meeting the cooling demands.

Abstract: A thermal management system includes a first cooler that cools a first heat source, a first circulation path that connects the first cooler and a first pump, a second cooler that cools a second heat source, a second circulation path that connects the second cooler and a second pump, a changeover valve, and a controller. The changeover valve is switchable between first and second valve positions. The first and second circulation paths are separated from each other when the changeover valve is in the first valve position. The controller causes both the first and second pumps to operate when the temperature difference between refrigerants in the first and second circulation paths is more than a predetermined temperature difference threshold when the changeover valve is set to the first valve position and one of the first and second pumps is operating and the other is not operating.

Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a first energy storage device, a body, an electric power take-off system, and a subsystem coupled to the body and moveable using hydraulic power from the electric power take-off system. The first energy storage device (e.g., a battery) is supported by the chassis and is configured to provide electrical power to a prime mover. Activation of the prime mover selectively drives the refuse vehicle. The body is configured for storing refuse, and is supported by the chassis. The electric power take-off system is positioned on the body and includes an electric motor, a second energy storage device configured to provide electric power to the electric motor, and a hydraulic pump that is drive by the electric motor. The electric motor drives the hydraulic pump to convert the electrical power into hydraulic power.

The operator is in control to optimize refill and/or next battery charge. The operator may have the option to select performance modes based on excavator performance vs. battery life. Remaining time and warning messages may be periodically sent to the operator based on the performance mode selected and current state of charge.
