Abstract: Device for water disinfection by ultrafiltration. The device comprises a filtering assembly with at least one ultrafiltration membrane (6) inside a casing (10); a pump (5, 15), powered with electrical energy, configured for driving water to be filtered to said at least one ultrafiltration membrane (6); and an electric supply connection (2) for powering said pump (5) from a power supply. Said at least one ultrafiltration membrane is located in said casing (10) in a position in which it receives the feed flow of the water to be filtered by gravity or pressure; the electric power supply is provided by a battery included in a portable communication device (4); and the intensity of the current consumed by the pump (5, 15) is below 1.2 A, with a supply voltage of up to 24 V.

Abstract: Energy may be stored by injecting fluid into a fracture in the earth and producing the fluid back while recovering power and/or desalinating water. The method may be particularly adapted to storage of large amounts of energy such as in grid-scale electric energy systems. The fracture may be formed and treated with resin so as to limit fluid loss and to increase propagation pressure. The fluid may be water containing a dissolved salt or fresh water and a portion or all of the water may be desalinated using pressure in the water when it is produced.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for collecting, transporting, and purifying water using human energy from transport. A barrel shaped water impermeable container made of material comprising an ultraviolet (UV) light stabilized polymer that can be pushed or rolled. The container has one or more ports with removable filters to remove pre-sediment prior to transport and post-sediment after transport. A translucent water impermeable casing comprising an electrical box having at least two removable and replaceable UV lights, connected to copper coils with rotating magnets inside the coil generate power to light the ultraviolet lights and purify water in the container. Three or more removable proportionally spaced carbon fin cartridges rotate about a container closed end axis when the container is pushed or pulled to provide additional purification. Carbon fin cartridges can have a polylactic acid shell wrapped in liquid permeable mesh shell and evenly spaced holes packed with carbon.

Abstract: A system and method for purifying water provides a feed solution water stream having a first osmotic pressure and a temperature T1 on a feed side of a semipermeable membrane. A draw solute stream has a temperature T2 and a second osmotic pressure higher than the first osmotic pressure. Water is mixed with the draw solution stream to produce a diluted draw solution stream having a temperature T3. Temperature T2 is higher than T1, and T3 is lower than T2. A solar panel has a heat exchanger in communication with the draw side and the solar panel has a temperature T4 higher than the temperature T3. The diluted draw solution stream passes into the heat exchanger to cool the solar panel. The diluted draw solution stream is heated and separated into purified water and recovered draw solution. The recovered draw solution passes to the membrane draw side for recycling.

Abstract: A self-contained, portable, waste water evaporating apparatus is shown. A solar-operated submersible pump pumps waste water from just under the surface of a waste water pit, through a pair of automatic backflushing filters and out misters located around the bank of the waste water pit. At a predetermined pressure across the automatic backflushing filters, the automatic backflushing filters are reverse cycled, one at a time, to backflushing particles back into the waste water pit. Periodically, the misters are purged and/or cleaned to remove particles therefrom. In response to sunlight, solar panels provide DC voltage directly to the submersible pump. If pressure from the submersible pump gets excessive, a pressure relief valve removes the excess pressure.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a renewable energy storage system includes a forward osmosis system, a hydro-turbine, and a separation (e.g., CEDI) system powered by one or more natural regenerating energy sources, such as wind or solar. In another embodiment, a renewable energy storage system includes a forward osmosis system, a hydro-turbine, a solar thermal heat exchanger through which the diluted osmotic draw solution can be directed for purposes of heating up the draw solution, and a solvent-water separator configured to separate the draw solution from the water. One example method includes drawing water across a forward osmosis membrane in a forward osmosis system such that the water drawn across the membrane dilutes an osmotic draw solution; directing the diluted osmotic draw solution to drive a hydro-turbine to produce energy; and separating the water from the draw solution using one or more natural regenerating energy sources.

Abstract: An integrated mechanical, electrical and plumbing appliance includes a housing defining a space occupied by an air treatment system, an electric power system, and a water treatment system. The electric power system includes a divides electrical power from an electrical power source connection into electrical circuit feeds for delivery within the housing to the air treatment system and the water treatment system, and to a building. The air treatment system includes receives exhaust air from the building and uses the exhaust air to precondition outdoor air, and receives return air from the building and conditions the return air. The water treatment system receives water from outside the building and divides the water into a water flow for output to the building and water flow to be filtered, filters water and outputs unheated water to the building, and heats water for output to the building.
