Abstract:
A coating composition for imparting a hydrophobic film on a target surface is provided that includes an oil of a silicone oil or a fluoropolymer oil or a combination thereof, a resin, and a dry lubricant. A solvent is present to form a solution of the oil and resin. A coating is imparted to an applicator that in turn can transfer the coating as a hydrophobic film. The coating composition is stable and able to impart hydrophobic film even after storage for several weeks at elevated temperature. The coating composition does so through the exclusion of synthetic waxes especially including silicone waxes. A kit is also provided that includes a wiper blade having the above coating composition applied along with instructions for the securement of the wiper blade to a vehicle to impart the hydrophobic film to a vehicle windshield contacted by the wiper blade.
Abstract:

The industrial lubricant also includes at least one intercalation compound of a metal chalcogenide, a carbon containing compound and a boron containing compound, wherein the intercalation compound may have a geometry that is a platelet shaped geometry, a spherical shaped geometry, a multi-layered fullerene-like geometry, a tubular-like geometry or a combination thereof.
Abstract:
A lubricant includes carbon particles in a carrier. The carbon particles may be nearly spherical, individually have maximum and minimum diameters that differ by no more than ten nanometers, and the maximum diameters of the carbon particles are less than one micrometer. The lubricant may be manufactured by preparing the carbon particles by ultrasound-assisted polymerization of resorcinol and formaldehyde in an aqueous system followed by a heat treatment in an inert or non-oxidizing atmosphere and dispersion of the carbon particles in the liquid hydrocarbon carrier to form the lubricant. Optionally, inorganic metals, alloys, or oxides are coated on the surface of the carbon particles via an additional thermolysis step.
Abstract:
A friction modifying lubricant additive is provided comprising a base oil, colloidal nanocarbon particles, and a fluorine containing oligomeric dispersant. The fluorine containing oligomeric dispersant includes an anchoring group, a lipophilic hydrocarbon group, and a fluorinated oleophobic group. Further, a friction modifying lubricant additive is provided comprising a base oil, colloidal nanocarbon particles, a fluorine containing oligomeric dispersant, and at least one component selected from the group consisting of an antifriction component, an antiwear component, and an extreme pressure component. In another aspect, a method of manufacturing a lubricant additive is provided, the method comprising the step of mixing together a fluorine containing oligomeric dispersant, a dispersion of colloidal nanocarbon particles in a first base oil, and a second base oil.
Abstract:
A composition for a lubricating film includes molybdenum disulfide particles which are dispersed, and a binding resin, and is a composition for coating a surface of a base material made of metal with a lubricating film in which the molybdenum disulfide particles are bound together by the binding resin. The composition for a lubricating film contains 50 mass % to 70 mass % of the molybdenum disulfide particles with respect to a total amount of the molybdenum disulfide particles and the binding resin. An average particle size of the molybdenum disulfide particles is in a range of 0.1 μm to 3.0 μm.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lubricant composition comprising a dispersant of high molecular weight and metal nanoparticles. The lubricant composition according to the invention simultaneously has good stability and good anti-flaking properties.
Abstract:
A coating of a metal sheet or strip comprising a lubricant and a protective base material is provided. The lubricant is contained in the protective base material, and the protective base material is at least in part selectively removable. There is also provided a metal sheet or strip capable of forming, in particular of superplastic forming, and having a coating according to the invention at least partially on one or on both sides of the metal sheet and a method for manufacturing a metal sheet or strip according to the invention comprising the steps of providing a metal sheet or strip capable of forming, in particular of superplastic forming, and applying a coating according to the invention.

Abstract:
A coated article system includes a substrate and a surface coating on the substrate. The surface coating is formed by depositing individual particles of a composite metal powder with sufficient energy to cause the composite metal powder to bond with the substrate and form the surface coating. The composite metal powder includes a substantially homogeneous dispersion of molybdenum and molybdenum disulfide sub-particles that are fused together to form the individual particles of the composite metal powder.
