A hinge is disclosed with a barrel having a reduced thickness compared to a conventional barrel hinge. The arms that form the barrel are reduced in thickness prior to curling the arms so that a relatively thin barrel is achieved. The disclosed hinge can therefore be used as a flush mount hinge with minimal alteration to the objects to which it is coupled. The hinge can also be used as a top mount hinge with fewer safety issues in, for example, boating operations, where the hinge may be located in an area typically walked upon by people or animals. The disclosed hinge is easy to manufacture because the small arms require less force to curl, and yet the hinge portions can remain relatively thick to couple together heavy objects requiring high structural stability.

A carbon monoxide activated garage door opening system including a garage door opening system connected to an existing garage door and a user interface communicatively coupled to the garage door opening system for toggling the garage door between open and closed positions based upon receiving a corresponding user input at the user interface. Such a user interface preferably has a first carbon monoxide detector located therein for detecting an initial carbon monoxide level in the ambient air surrounding the user interface. A second carbon monoxide detector is attached to a rear side of the user interface for confirming whether the initial carbon monoxide level is an unsafe carbon monoxide level. In this manner, upon validating the unsafe carbon monoxide level, the user interface is adapted to automatically override the user input and thereby open the garage door.

The invention, in certain embodiments, specifies an actuation method for an electric window winder (10) of a front window (1) of a vehicle (3) without a B-pillar and with a moveable rear window (2), which actuation method allows all the windows to be closed in a particularly rapid and reliable manner. According to the method, provision is made for the front window (1) to be closed by the window winder (10), taking into consideration a trapping-prevention means (25). Furthermore, a closing condition is checked during the actuation method. If, on account of this closing condition, it can be assumed that trapping prevention-related reversing of the front window (1) has been caused by a collision with the rear window (2), the front window (1) is closed again after the trapping prevention-related reversing operation.

The method serves for operating a system with a foldable element that is provided with a control unit including at least two foldable elements, that are connected each via connecting shafts to related carriages, which are slidably supported in a running rail and of which at least the carriage connected to the front-sided foldable element is provided with a drive motor, the method including the step of executing a learning drive, with which the system with foldable elements is transferred from at least a first into a second position and related information is captured. A door operator of the fireproof door comprises a force applying end for releasing the reel of a door curtain, and a loading end for sustaining the weight of the door curtain. The rotary shaft comprises an internal (central) shaft and a plurality of external shaft coupled to each other via a clutch mechanism. The force applying end and the loading end act on the internal shaft and the external shaft respectively. A torsion spring brake mechanism is provided to resist the potential energy of the loading end by varying the inner diameter of the torsion spring so as to constantly restrain the rotary shaft from rotating, or to release the rotary shaft when the brake mechanism is subjected to an external force from the force applying end.

A track for a roll-up industrial door. The track may include realigners adapted to divert the path of the industrial door as it is opened or shut. For example, a realigner may include a tapered portion to maintain a portion of the door within the track as the door is shut. Thus, an event can be readily reconstructed after the fact, using all available sensors and other information relevant to a manager or supervisor. An alert can be issued whenever an abnormal or unauthorized event occurs during operations. A QR code reader can be provided which communicates with the system to enable a person carrying the cell phone to scan QR codes at specified locations or on specified items or vehicles.
