    Abstract: To avoid undesirable electrostatic discharge events while maintaining low leakage currents, earbuds may be provided with controlled electrostatic discharge paths. The discharge paths may include discrete components such as resistors or more distributed resistive components such as resistive elastomers. A resistive elastomer may be incorporated into an interior portion of an earbud between an earbud housing structure and a ground path. A resistive elastomer may also be used in forming an ear bud tip.

    Abstract: An in-ear audio device has a casing on which is disposed one or more bags are positioned to be filled with fillable material during a customization process in which a test sound is acoustically output into an ear canal by an acoustic driver of the in-ear audio device while the one or more bags are being filled, and a microphone acoustically coupled to the ear canal is employed to detect sounds within the ear canal that are indicative of the frequency response of the acoustic output of the acoustic driver to determine when the degree of sealing of the ear canal by the one or more bags is sufficient to achieve a desired quality of frequency response.

    Abstract: A customizable audio earpiece includes an ear bud body with an ear bud size of which is adjustable along with some control over its orientation. The ear bud body comprises a ball point with teeth that couples to a mating cavity with teethed groves to movably lock or snap with each other on an ear bud stick. The flexibility of one or more petal shaped fingers provides an adequate level of stiffness for the ear bud when resting therein. The teeth on the ends of these petal shaped fingers releasably couple to teeth on a speaker body. In this way, users have varying size of ears with different size of ear canal cavities and conchal bowls can comfortably use the customizable audio earpiece.

    Abstract: A method for making a customized earpiece includes creating a unique identifier associated with a user, scanning an ear of the user with an electronic device that includes at least one camera system that configured to perform three dimensional mapping image scans, associating the unique identifier with one or more scans obtained via the electronic device, receiving, at a database, the one or more scans via transmission from the electronic device, receiving, at the database, one or more earpiece parameters via transmission from the electronic device, forming, via a three-dimensional printer, a mold having an internal configuration corresponding to the one or more scans and the one or more earpiece parameters. The mold can then be utilized to create a custom-fit earpiece that includes customized internal components and other features that match the earpiece parameters provided by the user. A system utilizing the above method is also included.
