Abstract:
A milling system is disclosed for creating a cavity in a bone. The cavity has a cross section which has a generally triangular profile having a first side generally parallel with an axis of the bone and a second side forming an acute angle with the first side. The cavity is contiguous with a pre-existing conical cavity in the bone. The system comprises a drive shaft, a frame for carrying a cutter and a cutter for cutting the cavity. The drive shaft has a proximal end configured for coupling to a drive means and a distal end configured to form a portion of a drive joint for coupling the drive shaft to a cutter. The frame includes a shaft and a cutter mount for mounting a cutter at a first angle approximating the acute angle with respect to the shaft. The mount includes a bracket extending laterally from the shaft to a bearing configured to receive a portion of a cutter and maintain the received cutter oriented at the first angle during rotation. The cutter has a head configured to form a portion of a drive joint for coupling the cutter to a drive shaft. The drive shaft is coupled to the cutter to form the drive joint. The cutter is received in the mount at the first angle and the drive shaft forms a second angle with the longitudinal axis less than the first angle.
Abstract:
An integrated circuit including a logic analyzer with enhanced analyzing and debugging capabilities and a method therefor. In one embodiment of the present invention, an embedded logic analyzer (ELA) receives a plurality of signals from a plurality of buses within an integrated circuit (IC). The ELA includes an interconnect module to select a trigger signal and/or a sampled signal from the plurality of received signals. A trigger module sets at least one trigger condition and detects if the trigger signal satisfies the at least one trigger condition. When the trigger condition is satisfied, an output module performs at least one task based upon the satisfied at least one trigger condition. If a sampling process is initiated by the output module, the plurality of sampled signals is sampled and may be stored in a memory. The capability of the output module to perform multiple user-defined tasks enhances the debugging capability of the ELA and makes it more versatile.
Abstract:
A combination confocal and scanning probe microscope system permits accurate location of a sample within the field of view as the sample translates from one type of microscope to the other. Alternate embodiments permit both microscopes to view the same sample location at the same time. Further alternate embodiments include a confocal and a probe microscope integrated into a common optical path.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compounds of Formula (I), pharmaceutical compositions thereof, methods of using the same, processes for preparing the same, and intermediates thereof.
Abstract:
Lines of input image data are scaled in a first dimension, the one-dimensionally scaled lines are stored in a buffer memory until a sufficient number of lines have been stored to perform scaling equally in two dimensions, and the stored lines are then scaled in a second dimension to produce image data scaled two-dimensionally by a user-selected scaling percentage. A first image scaling method is used to scale the input image data if the user-selected scaling percentage exceeds a predetermined threshold value, such as 50 percent, and a second scaling method is used if the scaling percentage does not exceed the threshold value. The first method can be, for example, linear interpolation, and the second method can be, for example, averaging.
Abstract:
A core network architecture for supporting an internet protocol based network is disclosed. The system includes a base station which is configured to convert a signal from a first network to an internet protocol network signal and send the converted signal through the internet protocol base network. The network also includes a gateway which is configured to receive the converted signal and deploy the converted signal through the internet protocol base network. In this sense, the internet protocol base network manages the call mobility and delivery of the signal. The base station in this disclosure may be a femto base station and the first network may be a code division multi-access (CDMA) network.
Abstract:
A method for detecting and correcting firmware corruption in a system having a host communicatively coupled to an electronic apparatus, the electronic apparatus having a hardware unit communicatively coupled to a non-volatile memory, includes determining via the hardware unit whether firmware on the non-volatile memory is corrupted; if the firmware is determined to be corrupted, then: invoking a communication driver resident in the hardware unit to establish bi-directional communications between the host and the electronic apparatus; and initiating a firmware download from the host to update the firmware on the non-volatile memory to an uncorrupted state.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a system and method for executing a multi-user virtual sports industry simulation. In an embodiment, the system comprising means for receiving a plurality of user-controllable inputs relating to each user's economic strategy, means for receiving a plurality of user-controllable inputs relating to each user's skill strategy, means for receiving a plurality of system-controlled inputs; means for accessing a plurality of system-defined rules, and a results calculator for deterministically calculating a match result as between users in dependence upon the plurality of user-controllable inputs, system-controlled inputs, and system-defined rules. The system may further comprise means for providing feedback to at least one of a user's economic strategy and skill strategy based on the calculated match result.
Abstract:
Smokable rods of cigarettes are manufactured using wrapping materials that incorporate at least one fibrous material (e.g., flax fibers, hardwood pulp fibers and/or softwood pulp fibers) at least one filler material (e.g., calcium carbonate in particulate form). The wrapping materials possess multi-layer coatings. The wrapping materials possess coatings in the form of series of spaced apart bands, each band possessing a series of layers. At least one of the coating layers can have a filler material dispersed or suspended within a film-forming material of that layer. For a representative wrapping material, a pattern of applied to the wire side major surface of the wrapping material substrate as a plurality of layers, and at least one of the layers includes ethylcellulose and calcium carbonate. For that layer, the calcium carbonate is present in an amount greater than the ethylcellulose, on a weight basis. The ethylcellulose and calcium carbonate typically are applied as part of a non-aqueous formulation incorporating iso-propyl acetate, triacetin and lecithin.
